Obituary of George Staring

Mr. George C. Staring, age 73, of 5316 State Rt. 167, Little Falls, (Town of Manheim), loving husband of Barbara P. (Tracy) Staring passed away unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon, December 10, 2002 at Little Falls Hospital. Mr. Staring was born on May 30, 1929 in Little Falls a son of the late George I. And Dorothy (Cramer) Staring. He graduated from Little Falls High School and was a lifelong Little Falls resident. He married the former Theresa LaFontaine in September of 1950; she passed away in February of 1980. He was joined in marriage with the former Barbara P. Tracy on April 8, 1989, a blessed union of over 13 years. He was last employed as a foreman with the Herkimer County Highway Department. He served this position loyally for 36 years, retiring in 1985. He was employed with Ed Frederick?s Artic Cat Dealership in Little Falls from 1970-1975. He was of the Episcopalian Faith. George was very involved in the community. He was extremely active with the Boy Scouts. George was the troop leader of Troop 25 for many years. He received one of scouting?s highest awards, the Silver Beaver. Other recognitions he received were the Wood Badge and the Order of the Arrow. He also was a member of the Little Falls Elks Lodge #42 and was "Elk of the Year" in 1991. He also was a former trustee with the lodge. Another job he loved and served well at was with the Little Falls School Board. He served on the board from 1977-1992 and served as president for seven years. He was also a member of the Mohawk Valley Country Club. George appreciated the rewarding friendships he established and maintained throughout his life, as well as the many good times he shared with his loved ones, especially his grandchildren who were the joy of his life. He loved to be outdoors and enjoyed golfing. He leaves his beloved wife Barbara of the home address and his mother in law, Ida Parese, seven children, David A. Staring and wife Victoria of Little Falls, Barbara A. Staring of Little Falls, George S. Staring and wife Susan of Mohawk, Ann Marie Walrath and husband Robert of Little Falls, Bernard "Chuck" Tracy and wife Beth of Dolgeville, James Tracy, Esq. Of Houston, TX, and John Tracy and wife Alison of Kansas City, KS., four sisters and brothers, Betty Jean Blankenburg of Little Falls, Ronald M. Staring and wife Dorothy of Pine Lake, Roger I. Staring and wife Sharon of Little Falls and Mary E. Staring of Little Falls, three sisters in law, Grace Stewart of Dolgeville, Natalie Mosney and husband John of Oswego, and Helen Murray of Cincinatti, OH, his cherished grandchildren, Zachary and Jacob Staring, Nicole, Kelly, Theresa, Martha and Molly Staring, Theresa Vogt, Jennifer, Christopher and Sara Walrath, Andrew Tracy and Meghan Tracy, nephews and nieces, Lawrence Staring and wife Pamela, Gary Staring and wife Darcy, Eric Staring and wife Darlene, Kathleen Staring, Julie Panko and husband Tom, Joan Santspree and husband Keith and Jean Foti and husband Joseph. Also surviving are many cousins and friends. He was predeceased by a brother, Alan Staring. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Enea Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe St., Little Falls on Thursday (TODAY), December 12, 2002 from 5- 8 p.m. Mr. Staring's funeral will commence on Friday morning, December 13, at 10:15 am from the chapel of the funeral home where prayer will be offered and 11 am from Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Albany St., Little Falls where the Rev. Dr. Steven A. Scarcia, Rector will celebrate his Mass of Resurrection. Mr. Staring will be laid to rest this spring in Mt. View Memorial Gardens, town of Little Falls, at a time to be announced. Kindly consider contributions in honor of George to the Boy Scouts or to the American Heart Association, envelopes are available at the funeral home. The family would like to offer its thanks to the Little Falls Fire Department and EMT's for their professional expertise and personal concern and to Dr. Adamson for his care and compassion. The Little Falls Elks Lodge #42 will gather at the funeral home on Thursday evening at 6 pm to conduct ritualistic services.
