Obituary of Robert E. Carpenter

LITTLE FALLS - Robert E. Carpenter, of Little Falls, New York, passed away peacefully, on June 1, 2023, at Faxton St. Luke’s Healthcare, surrounded by family after a sudden illness. Robert was born July 28, 1955, at Little Falls Hospital, to Margaret and Robert Thomas. He attended Little Falls High School and graduated with the class of 1975. Robert met the love of his life, Christine Bailey (Carpenter) in 1982 and they wed on April 16, 1988, at the Emmanuel Episcopal Church. Robert proudly serviced his community in numerous ways. He worked for the DPW of Little Falls for over 30 years. He was originally appointed as a motor equipment operator on April 21, 1986. He worked the majority of his life taking care of the streets of Little Falls. He especially enjoyed operating the street sweeper and forming life long bonds with the residents. He retired on January 5, 2018. After retirement, he was a crossing guard and still assisted with the street sweeper. Robert also was a call fireman for over 35 years in which he took great pride in. Robert was a boy scout as a child and carried that passion into adulthood, where he passed his knowledge onto the next generation. Robert was an Assistant Scout Master, with Troop 31, of Little Falls for many years. He was also the Assistant Scout Master with Troop 4, in New Hartford and a member of the Eagle Board of Adirondack Foot Hills. Besides his great work ethic, he was a loving devoted husband, father and papa. He enjoyed assisting and watching his children’s sporting events, especially track and cross country. Whether in the woods or on the track, he was always the parent cheering and encouraging all the runners. He never missed anything. He loved making people laugh and left a lasting impression on everyone he spoke to. Robert is survived by his wife, Christine Carpenter, of Little Falls; his Son and daughter in law, Christopher and Onia Carpenter, of Brooklyn, New York; his daughter and son in law, Kimberly and William Wenzel, of Herkimer New York; and granddaughters, Scarlett and Madalynn Wenzel. The Family would like to thank the Little Falls Fire/EMS team and staff at Faxton St. Luke’s third floor, IMCU and ICU for their great work and kindness through this difficult time. Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 West Monroe St., Little Falls, NY, on Monday, June 5, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The family would like everyone to come together and remember the life of Robert afterwards at the American Legion in Little Falls.
