Obituary of Anthony P. Fresco

Anthony P. "Pops" Fresco, Sr., age 81, passed away unexpectedly early Saturday morning, April 29, 2023, in the privacy and comfort of his home. Born on March 4, 1942, Anthony was the son of the late Joseph and Catherine (Meade) Fresco. He was raised and educated locally, graduating from Frankfort schools. Upon completion of his education, Anthony proudly served his country in the United States Navy, receiving his honorable discharge on April 26, 1963. On April 27, 1963, Anthony was united in holy matrimony to the former Katherine Scaparo and together they were blessed with a long and happy marriage, celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary just days before Anthony’s passing. For many years, Anthony was employed with the Union Fork & Hoe as a lead man. In his free time he enjoyed time spent with his family and could often be found fishing or working on taking care of his property. Survivors include his beloved wife, Katherine; his sons and daughter-in-law, Tony Fresco and Mark and Becky Fresco, all of Ilion; his grandchildren, TJ, Brian, Brett, Vinny, Zack, Sam and Sal; along with several great-grandchildren. He also leaves his brothers, Chuck (Josie) of Mooresville, NC, Joseph of Frankfort and Jim (Darshan) of Ilion; his sisters, Mary of Newville, NY and Patty of Frankfort; and his brother-in-law, Peter of Shepherdsville, KY. He was predeceased by his parents; his daughter-in-law, Lori Fresco; his brother, John; his sister, Anna; his brother-in-law, Carl Scaparo; sister-in-law, Mary; and great-granddaughter, Peyton. Friends and relatives are invited to attend a graveside service for Anthony on Thursday, May 11, 2023 at 10:00AM at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Frankfort, where his earthly remains will be laid to rest.
