Melvin Davis

Obituary of Melvin Davis

Melvin Davis, an almost 32 year resident of the Lexington Center family passed away peacefully on February 21, 2023 at the age of 70. Born on October 8, 1952, Melvin was the son of the late Wilfred and Marie Louise (Ploche) Davis. He was one of three boys and he spent all of his earlier life in institutions. Unfortunately, due to life circumstances his family has not been able to be located. He moved to Willowbrook in 1955 at the age of three and then to Bronx State School in 1955, then to the Long Island Developmental Center from 1966 until he joined his new family in 1991. On March 27, 1991, Melvin became part of the Lexington family, moving to a brand new home at Keyser Lake; the first true home he had lived in. He remained at his home for over thirty years until 2022 when he moved to Mountain View II because of his increased medical needs. Melvin was a wonderful man with very gentle mannerisms. He was exceptionally kind and loved by all. Melvin enjoyed going to concerts and listening to music every chance he could. He enjoyed listening to audiobooks, especially mysteries. He enjoyed being outdoors especially in warmer weather. He liked to go for walks with everyone and also in the past, enjoyed going fishing with his Lexington family. Melvin’s presence always created calm to any room he was in. His sweet and kind personality was always a pleasure to be around. Many of our family has been blessed to have known Melvin for many years, some of us having the privilege and honor to have known him for almost 32 years he had been with us. Melvin’s funeral service will commence on Thursday morning, March 2, 2023, at 11:00AM at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 9 Center Street, St. Johnsville, NY (518) 568-2300. All who had a special place for Melvin in their heart are welcome to join in bidding their farewells. Spring interment will take place in Dolgeville Cemetery. Final arrangements have been entrusted to the Enea, Ciaccia & Applegate Funeral Directors.
