Obituary of Marion R. Regan

LITTLE FALLS - Marion R. Regan passed away in the comfort of her daughter’s home, on November 16, 2022, with her loving family at her side. Marion was born on July 4, 1933, in Little Falls, NY, the daughter of Lenwood and Elizabeth (Murphy) Pye. She graduated from Dolgeville High School, Class of 1951. Marion then furthered her education and graduated from St. Elizabeth Hospital School of Nursing, as a Registered Nurse. Marion was united in marriage to Jack Regan, on November 26, 1955, at St. Joseph’s Church in Dolgeville, NY. Jack predeceased her, on December 10, 2006. Marion was employed in various positions at Little Falls Hospital and then as an Occupational Health Nurse, at MDS, Herkimer, NY. She concluded her professional career with the NYS Employee Health Services, in Albany, NY and retired in 2000. Marion enjoyed hosting family get togethers over the years and loved to travel, especially to visit family. She is survived by her five children: Eileen (Joe) Handley, of Austin, TX, Jack (Sue) Regan and Mike (Sandy) Regan, of Little Falls, Mary (Jon) Gruchala, of Colden, NY and Mark (Julie) Regan, also of Little Falls. In addition, she leaves grandchildren, Suellen Rosetti, Bill Regan, Sean (Kait) Regan, Matthew Regan, Danielle (Dave) Richard, David Carpenter, Lauren (Ben) Whelan, Ryan Gruchala, Xavier Regan and Mariah Regan; great-grandchildren, Chase, Deven, Jayden and Kylie. Marion is also survived by siblings, David (Connie) Pye and Dorothy (Bob) Arthur; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband, Jack, she was predeceased by 3 infant children, Mary Elizabeth, Joseph and Catherine; 2 grandchildren, Andrew and infant Christopher Gruchala; and a sister, Catherine Steinert. Marion was a parishioner of the Holy Family Parish, in Little Falls. She volunteered with the Parish office and was a member of the Christian Service Committee and Rosary Society. Marion was a woman of deep faith, modeled after her own mother. She maintained a devotion to the mission of Father Baker (Venerable Nelson Baker) and Our Lady of Victory Charities, which was passed down by her Grandmother Murphy. Marion’s Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Family Parish, 763 E. Main St., Little Falls, NY, on Tuesday, November 29, 2022, at 11:00 am. Following the Mass, Marion will be laid to rest at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Herkimer, NY. In lieu of flowers, remembrance in Marion’s name may be made to Holy Family Parish, 763 E. Main St., Little Falls, NY 13365, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or Our Lady of Victory Charities, 780 Ridge Road, Lackawanna, NY 14218.
