Obituary of Cheryl I. Suits

ST. JOHNSVILLE – Mrs. Cheryl I. Suits, age 72, of Suits Road, St. Johnsville, New York, passed away peacefully, in the presence of those she loved, on Sunday, October 23, 2022, at the home of her daughter, in Dolgeville. Born in Cobleskill, NY, on January 7, 1950, she was a daughter to the late William and Lillian (Salisbury) Hallenbeck. The family had moved to St. Johnsville when Cheryl was a young girl. She worked at Kasson Keller, Fonda, New York, as an assembler. Cheryl married Gary P. Suits, on November 3, 1973, at the St. Johnsville Methodist Church. They worked together on the family farm for many years pursuing some of their leisure enjoyments including gardening as well as cooking and canning while raising their family. Cheryl proudly and valiantly fought stage four colon cancer for over twelve years. She is a survivor to all of us and has lived her beautiful life to the fullest. She created fond memories for all of her family through her love of camping, particularly the Shadowbrook Halloween weekends, where she helped bring a great deal of joy to hundreds of children over the years. Another passion she shared with her grandchildren was the Pig Races at the Fonda Fair each year. She would wear her pink pig shirt with her pig ears and sit in the front row for every race, rain or shine, cheering on the pigs. These memories and hundreds more will be etched in the minds of Cheryl’s family forever. She was so very special and would do anything for anyone. In addition to her parents, Cheryl was predeceased by some of her siblings. She is survived by her husband, Gary; her children, Richard (Karen) Suits, Brenda (Skip) Gehring, Darren (Carissa) Suits and Gregory Suits; and her grandchildren, Victoria Gehring, Katherine (Justin) Gehring-Niesche, Danielle Gehring, Caroline Gehring, George Gehring, III, Desiree Suits, Cameron (Ashley) Suits, Daija Suits and Landon Suits. Calling hours will be held 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., on Friday, October 28, 2022, at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 9 Center Street, St. Johnsville, NY. A Prayer Offering will be held at 12 Noon, at the funeral home, followed immediately by a Graveside Service, at St. Johnsville Cemetery, all officiated by Rev. David A. Johnson. All are invited to the calling hours and Funeral Services to follow.
