Obituary of Louis R. Gruet

MOHAWK – Louis R. Gruet, age 60, a lifelong Mohawk Valley resident, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, August 17, 2022, in the privacy and comfort of his home. At the time of his passing, he was surrounded by the love of his family at his side. Born in Little Falls on February 19, 1962, Louis was the son of the late Jean P. and Lucille R. (Morgan) Gruet. He was raised and educated locally and was a graduate from Whitesboro Central School. Upon completion of his schooling, Louis enlisted in the United States Air Force and proudly served his country, receiving his honorable discharge in 1982. On June 15th, 1996 Louis was joined in marriage with the former Renee Caldwell and together they shared in a blessed and loving union of 27 years. For seventeen years, Louis was employed with Remington Arms in Ilion until his health no longer allowed him to work. Louis is survived by his beloved wife, Renee; by his daughters Amanda and Courtney and son Robert, his two grandchildren, Dylan and Raelyn, his brothers Mike, Kenny, Richard, William, his sister Brenda, his Aunt Shirley and his dog lucky. Along with many other family members and friends. Louis was a wonderful man and always be remembered as someone who would give the shirt off his back for anyone and would always make you smile. In keeping with Lou’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral services at this time.
