Obituary of Beverly Sudakow

Beverly (Capes) Sudakow, 72, of North Charleston, SC entered into eternal rest unexpectedly on July 11, 2022 at Trident Medical Center with her beloved daughter and son-in-law by her side. Beverly was born on July 6, 1950, to Seth and Gladys (McCoy) Capes in the peaceful valley of Ilion, NY where she was raised and educated along with her siblings Carolyn, Judy, Larry, twin sister Barbara, and JoAnn. Beverly was a 1969 graduate of Ilion High School. In 1971 she was united in marriage to Harold Sudakow and out of that loving union came her one and only daughter, Melissa Leigh. Although their marriage ended, they remained friends for their daughter. Melissa was her pride and joy, her everything. Beverly loved to create with her hands, many of her hobbies included gardening, quilting, crocheting, painting, pottery, ceramics, button art and baking. She enjoyed sharing her creations with family and friends. She was known for her delicious pies and never hesitated to make one when asked. She especially proud of her beautiful garden, and won yard of the month a few times over the years. Beverly was employed by Duofold for many years where she made several dear friends. She moved to South Carolina in 1997 to be closer to her daughter. She was employed by IHG Hotels and Resorts and retired from there in 2012. She made many close friendships and cherished her dear friends Sue (Coffin) Walsh, Ann Brownell, Veronica (Peak) Seaman, and Mary Ann Jory who preceded her in an untimely passing in 2021. She looked forward to her trips back to the valley to spend time with her sisters, cousins, and friends. She loved life and had an infectious laugh and smile. She was always up for a family gathering or a sister’s trip to Virginia Beach. She was proud of her Irish heritage and loved to celebrate it by making Irish dishes with her daughter. She enjoyed tracking her family lineage and genealogy. She was honored to be a twin and loved spending many afternoons crafting with her dear sister, Barbara. Beverly was proud to be a member of VFW Post 3433 and attended DAR meetings with her daughter. Surviving her is her beloved daughter, Melissa Leigh and Brian Rogers of Goose Creek, SC; her cherished grand-dogs Charlie and Piper; her partner of many years Claude Bailey of North Charleston, SC; her siblings Carolyn (Danny) Beran of Ilion; Judy Bennett-Tinkler of Ilion; Larry (Nancy) Capes of Pine Bluffs, WY; Barbara Miller of Summerville, SC and JoAnn (Jim) Richards of Ilion. She was blessed with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Each one shared a special relationship with her and will all have their unique memories to hold on to and cherish. Preceding her in passing were her parents, Seth and Gladys Capes; brother in-law Ernie (Jr) Bennett; brother in-law Gregory Miller; brother in-law Jack Tinkler; nephew Gregory Miller Jr and great nephew Robert Dunn.
