Obituary of Diana T. Countryman

MOHAWK – Diana Teresa Countryman, 82, of Walnut Street, in Mohawk, New York, passed away peacefully and completed her life’s journey, on Monday morning, June 27, 2022, in Ilion, New York. She was born on January 3, 1940, a daughter to the late Arthur and Lila (McLean) Edick and had lived her early years toward the Remsen area. She was the youngest of 9 children: Irene, Paul, Rosetta, Dorothy, Earl, Shirley, Robert and Norman. She loved helping anyone in need and cooking was her favorite thing to do next to shopping! She used to be known as “Cooker” to the many children in the neighborhood when she lived in Utica. Everyone was always welcome in her home. We fondly recall where mom was just a famous figure and that was at Dave’s Diner, in Schuyler, where her friends and acquaintances were endless! She welcomed the missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints into her home for over thirty years even though she was of a different faith. She became known as “Grandma” to each and every missionary that passed through the valley. She eventually joined the LDS church, was baptized, and had her endowment at the Palmyra Temple. Diana was a Family Care Provider for OMRDDSO for well over thirty years and enjoyed being a mother to the individuals that she cared for over those many years. She was also an avid animal lover. She had many pets throughout the years, but Molly and Ben held an extra special place in her heart. Diana was predeceased by the love of her life, Chester Kryshchuk. She leaves behind her children, Charlene Marshall and her husband, Charlie; sons, Dale Countryman and his companion, Deb, Lee Countryman and his wife, Barb and Al Kryshchuk and his wife, Nancy. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren: Christopher Countryman, Alex Kryshchuk, Danielle Grogan, Kayla Bocchino, Sarah Countryman, Keegan Sanganetti, Cecilia Countryman and her newly born great-granddaughter, Josie, whom she absolutely adored. The family would like to thank the 2nd floor staff at the Grand Healthcare Facility, in Ilion, for the care given during the last few weeks. A very special thanks to Alex and Dakota for the compassion and care you gave to our mother and grandmother. Final arrangements have been entrusted to her longtime family friends at the Enea & Ciaccia Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, Ilion, NY (315) 894-8000, Harry J. and Kevin E. Enea, Martin L. Ciaccia, and Donald J. Applegate, Funeral Directors. Funeral Services for Diana will be held Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at 1:00 p.m., at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter - Day Saints, 317 Gros Boulevard, in Herkimer, NY, followed by a brief celebration of life.
