Obituary of Donald H. Oyer

FRANKFORT – Donald H. Oyer, age 89, of W. Main St., Frankfort, passed away peacefully, on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at the Abraham House, in Rome, NY. He was born on April 26, 1933, in Schuyler, the son of Oscar and Emma (Hulser) Oyer and attended Frankfort schools. On May 14, 1954, he was married to Joanne Nicolette, in Frankfort. Joanne predeceased Don exactly 10 years ago, on June 8, 2012. Don was employed as a Foreman, at Mohawk Containers Co., New Hartford, for 32 years. He was an active member of the St. Francis Club, in Frankfort and a former member of the Frankfort Volunteer Fire Department. Through the years, “Don’s Garage” was a place for friends to share country music, laughter and stories over a few cocktails. Surviving family members include his sons, Don J. Oyer, of Frankfort and Ken Oyer and his husband, Steve Anthonavage, of Riverton, NJ; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Joanne; his brothers, George, Earl and Lester Oyer; and his parents. In keeping with Don’s expressed wishes, in his prearrangement, there will be no scheduled public calling hours or services. Don requested that his Graveside Services be private and at the convenience of the family.
