Obituary of Kenneth Clyde Ray

HERKIMER – Mr. Kenneth Clyde Ray, 78, a lifelong Herkimer resident, entered into eternal rest, on Tuesday morning, March 29, 2022, in Herkimer, New York. He was born on February 7, 1944, in Herkimer, the son of the late Kenneth C. and Ethel (Chrisman) Ray and was educated in Herkimer schools, having graduated from Herkimer High School. Ken married Hideko Kiriyama, on October 30, 1967, in Tokyo, Japan. At a young age, Ken entered military service enlisting with the United States Navy and was honorably discharged in 1969. He retired from New York State Department of Corrections. Ken loved hunting, fishing, fishing trips to Lake Ontario, annual trips to Maine, the New York Yankees and watching his grandsons play baseball. Survivors include his beloved wife of over 54 years, Hideko, of Herkimer; his son, Randy and his wife, Laurie (Calenzo) and two grandsons, Nathan, and Colin, of Baldwinsville, New York; his nephew, William Ray and his wife, Elaine; his nephew, Gary English and his wife, Kathy; his nephew, Eric English and his wife, Debbie; and his niece, Julie Cring and her husband, Michael. Ken was predeceased by his son, Lonny; his brother, William Ray and sister-in-Law, Doris; his sister, Margaret English and brother-in-law, James English; and his nephew, Scott Ray. Envelopes will be available at the Enea Family Funeral Home (315) 866-1011. The Ray family invites relatives and friends to visitation, at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington St., Herkimer, on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, from 4-6 p.m. The funeral will commence at the conclusion of visitation, from the chapel of the funeral home and at this particular time it is the family request to be attended by family only. He will be laid to rest later in the spring, in Mt. View Memorial Gardens, Town of Little Falls. A very special thanks is offered to the adult daycare staff, the rehabilitation staff and the nurses, aides and staff, on the third floor at Foltsbrook, Herkimer, New York and the constant support and assistance of William Ray, Tim and Ruth Flynn and Gloria Fryer.
