Obituary of Rick A. Clapper

MOHAWK - Rick "Ricky" Clapper, a life-long resident of Mohawk, NY, died unexpectedly, on March 13, 2022, at the age of 52. Rick was predeceased by both his maternal and paternal grandparents, along with several other beloved relatives and friends. Like his grandfather, Archie McGraw, Rick was a friend to all and had a big smile and even bigger heart. Rick was born in Little Falls, NY, on May 21, 1969. He was a graduate of Mohawk Central School and Herkimer County Community College. Rick married Linda (Maine) Clapper on March 9, 2002. Rick is survived by his devoted wife, Linda; loving parents, Cheri and Dave Wilkins and Richard Clapper; his adoring sister, Amy Netti and her fiancé, Rick Potter; his best friend and brother, David Wilkins and his fiancée Karen Eissler; three beautiful daughters and their spouses, Sascha (Ashley) Congdon, Alexis (Kyle) McGovern and Ashleigh (Joshua) Allen; his cherished son, Jarhett Clapper; his doting grandchildren, Brooklyn, Jameson and Lincoln; his loving nephew, Cameron Platt and loving niece and Goddaughter, Grace Netti; and countless close relatives and friends. Rick worked at Blood Hound Underground Utility Locators for the past several years and was an Officer of the Sons of the American Legion. He was also a former volunteer of the New York Guard. Rick was a very proud father and grandfather and devoted family man and friend. He enjoyed playing golf, rain or shine, especially when joined by his son, brother and cousins, Michael, and BJ. Rick also loved to fish with his son and grandchildren. He spent several weekends each year at his parent’s camp, in Queensbury, fishing and playing board games with his family. Rick always enjoyed a good time, whether it was singing karaoke at his sister’s home, hanging with his brother at the “off-site” Salty Shamrock, sharing a laugh with friends at the Mohawk American Legion and “Sunday School”, camping with friends at Trails End, visiting with his father on Sundays, or enjoying cherished moments with his wife, children and grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2022, from 12-4 p.m., at the Enea & Ciaccia Family Funeral Home, at 4309 Acme Road, in Ilion. The service will also be conducted at the funeral home following the calling hours from 4-5 p.m., on Saturday. Immediately following the service, Rick’s family will host a celebration of his life at the Mohawk American Legion, at 43 West Main St., Mohawk, NY. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in memory of Rick’s love for his country and children, to the Sitrin Military Rehabilitation Program, Attn: Jackie Warmuth, 2050 Tilden Avenue, PO Box 1000, New Hartford, NY 13413, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, TN 38105.
