Obituary of Dominick J. Frank

UTICA – Mr. Dominick James Frank, age 97, formerly of Frankfort, New York and currently of Acacia Village, Utica, New York, passed away on Wednesday morning, February 23, 2022, at the Masonic Care of Utica. To My God: O God, my Father, I praise you as the giver of my life. I thank you for creating me after your own image and likeness. I thank you for teaching me how precious is every human life through the way Jesus lived, died and restored life. Mary, the Mother of Sorrows, modeled for me how to endure fractured expectations, unfulfilled hopes and being unable to ease so much of the suffering that surrounded me in a deeply troubled world. If it is thy will, bring me to the life where there is no more pain, no more suffering, but just the peace and joy you intended for me from the beginning of your creation. To My Friends: I was born on October 24, 1924, in Frankfort, New York, a son of the late Joseph and Mary Rose (Pace) Frank. I married Caroline A. D’Alessio, of Rome, New York, on September 9, 1950. After 57 years of marriage, Caroline passed away, on March 8, 2007. As a couple, we were uniquely in love and dedicated to each other. My early years were spent in Frankfort. After completing high school, I was fortunate to attend and graduate from Utica School of Commerce. Immediately upon graduation, I joined the United States Marine Corps. I went on to serve my country during World War II, being stationed stateside and throughout the Asiatic-Pacific areas. I was honorably discharged from the Fleet Marine Force, in April of 1946. Following military service, I was employed by Wilson & Company, wholesale meat distributors, involving business management and travel auditing assignments throughout New York, Pennsylvania and Ohio. My next and last thirty years of working were spent with General Electric Company, of Utica, while holding various managerial positions in Finance and Auditing. On September 9, 1950, I was joined in marriage with Caroline, in the Church of St. John the Baptist, Rome, New York, with Reverend Victor Ciciarelli, officiating. Caroline and I shared a compatible lifetime together while living in Schenectady, Utica and Frankfort. We did our best to practice quiet and deliberate manners within an honest and trustworthy nature which would guide us to achieving reliable, devoted and loyal parenthood. I lived, loved and appreciated life to the fullest. I enjoyed sharing time and fun with my wife, my children, my family and my friends. I took much pleasure instigating family activities, especially those involving birthdays, cookouts and holidays. When pressed, I would openly affirm to being a die-hard Yankee and Fighting Irish fan. In my leisure, I always found time to scan newspapers and magazines, listen to my lifetime style of music and now and then, pick out a novel from my personal library. There were times when I would try my luck at crosswords, but always with a trustworthy dictionary by my side. Throughout the years, I often committed time to religious, community and social activities. Being willing and able to volunteer time and effort to needy and worthy causes was always self-satisfying. Notably, I served on the Boards of Directors for the Mohawk Valley General Hospital and Mohawk Valley Nursing Home, of Ilion, New York. In departing from worldly life, I leave behind my close and dear family: my sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph D. (Mary Giknis) Frank, of Kennebunkport, Maine and Jon P. (Ann) Frank, of Ilion, New York; and my daughter and son- in-law, Maryrose C. (Douglas) Ewell, of Frankfort, New York. Reluctantly but lovingly, I leave behind Papa’s seven adorable grandchildren: Amanda M. Frank, William E. Frank, Maxwell B. Frank, Dominica R. Spine, Jadelyn R. Ewell, Joshua J. Frank and Hannah M. Frank; and lovable great-grandchildren. During my lifetime, I was also blessed with many loving relatives and endearing friends. Besides my wife, parents, and parents-in-law, I was predeceased by an infant son, Paul J. Frank; a brother and sister-in-law, Frank A. and Kathryn A. Frank; a sister and brother-in-law, Carmella M. and Samuel T. Bono; and two sisters, Pauline F. Frank and Julia M. Frank. In keeping with my personal wishes, my funeral services will be held at the convenience of my family. There will be no public visitation. My Mass of Christian Burial will be privately held on Monday, February 28, 2022, at Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church, Frankfort, New York, with Rev. Paul Catena, Pastor, officiating. Interment will take place later in the spring beside my wife, my son and my family, in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frankfort, New York. As a final note, I extend my very grateful prayers and blessings of thanks to all who shared their love and kindness to me and my family over the years. My God, bless one and all. Following my funeral services and as a special favor to me, please join my family in a farewell celebration, a celebration commemorating my departure from worldly life to the “great beyond” life to join my wife, my son, my family and my friends who left me before my time.
