Obituary of Daryle H. Wheelock

ILION – Daryle H. Wheelock, age 70, of W. Main St., Ilion, passed away peacefully, on Thanksgiving Day, at his home, with his loving wife, Florence, by his side. He was born on September 23, 1951, in Herkimer, the son of Howard and Doris (Crim) Wheelock and attended Ilion High School. On June 27, 1975, he was married to Florence Jaquish, at St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church, Ilion, by Father George Greene. Daryle was employed at Midtown Pontiac, Ilion, Holt Brothers, Mohawk and most recently, at Bernie Bus Co. Larry Gookins was a very good friend and Daryle always appreciated his friendship and support and all of the employees at Frankfort Valley Auto Sales. He enjoyed watching TV and was an avid Yankee Fan. Surviving family members include his beloved wife, Florence; his sisters, Cheryl and Vincent Carino, Debbie Rinaldi and her husband, Leo and Robin Smith and her husband, Albert; his sister-in-law, Mary Sands; brothers-in-law, Daniel Jaquish and George Jaquish; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents; his son, Todd; three brothers, Miles Ackler, Wendell Crim and Kevin Wheelock; and his sisters, Sandy Davis and Bonnie; and his canine companion, Max. Florence would like to thank his sister, Cheryl, for her support and understanding and her son, Justin, for all his help to both her and Daryle through this difficult time. A special thanks to Dr. Ferreiro, Dr. Carrillo, Sarah Evans, Steve Sickler, HOSPICE and all of Florence’s co-workers and friends at St. Luke’s Hospital for all their help, advice and support. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, November 30, 2021, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home’s larger facility, at 4309 Acme Rd. (old Main St.) between Ilion and Frankfort. A Celebration of Daryle’s Life/Prayer Service, will be held immediately following calling hours, at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at the funeral home.
