Obituary of Beverly M. Kucerak

EAST HERKIMER – Mrs. Beverly M. Kucerak, age 79, of 5633 State Route 5, East Herkimer, passed away on Sunday morning, November 7, 2021. Her passing occurred at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare in the Town of New Hartford, New York, after a brief illness. Bev was born on May 12, 1942, in Ilion, New York, a daughter of the late Lawrence D. & Marion (Nunn) Hatch. She received her education in Herkimer, a graduate of Herkimer High School, ‘Class of 1960.’ She was married to Steve Kucerak, the love of her life, in 1964. The couple shared a beautiful marriage full of memories. They truly loved and supported each other in good times and bad. Steve passed away July 10, 2002. Bev was last employed as a teacher’s assistant at Herkimer County BOCES, having retired from there and lovingly taking care of her husband. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, in Herkimer. Possessing many admirable qualities of character, Bev always displayed great generosity of love and companionship to her family and friends. She was a beloved wife, mother, aunt, sister and friend, cherishing all those relationships. She continued to care for her son Shane in their home despite her deteriorating health. Bev cherished life and never took a day for granted, always happy to have a visitor and parting ways with an “I Love You.” She leaves behind her two sons, Steve G. Kucerak, Jr. and his wife, Dawn, of Dryden, New York and Shane Kucerak, of Frankfort; a sister, Cathy Jantzen (Eric); two brothers, William Hatch, of Corning, New York and Lawrence Hatch (Gale), of Virginia; in-laws, Paul Kucerak, John and his wife, Janet Kucerak, Betty Kucerak, Olga Kucerak and Daniel Kucerak and his wife, Dawn; and two cherished grandchildren, Kayla and Jeffrey Kucerak, as well as her devoted Maltese companion “Sammie.” Bev also leaves many friends and is predeceased by her beloved husband, Steve; mother, Marion; her father, Lawrence; stepfather, Charles Cook; and her Aunt Katherine and Aunt Dorothy. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. The family will receive relatives and friends at The Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 North Washington Street in Herkimer, New York on Wednesday, November 10th from 5PM until 7PM. Bev’s funeral services will be held on Thursday November 11th at 11AM from Trinity Lutheran Church, 443 Henry Street in Herkimer, with Rev. Joelle Faulks, officiating. Interment will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her husband Steve. It is the wish of the family that those wishing to remember Bev in a special way consider a donation in her memory to the ARC, Herkimer @ P.O. The loving display of friendship offered by the ARC Herkimer will always be remembered and a special thank you as well to the neurological unit at Faxton-St. Luke’s, especially the amazing nurse, Kim.
