Obituary of Noor M. Bauder

Noor M. (Ellis) Bauder 1943 - 2021 Noor /newER/ Proper noun Definition: Lebanese for “Light” ILION – A bright, shining light has been darkened at the passing of Noor Bauder, on Saturday evening, July 24, 2021. Born in Utica, New York to the late parents of Martha and Joseph Ellis (Stratford, New York), Noor grew up learning acrobats and magic where she and her two sisters, Marjo Ellis (Raleigh, North Carolina) and Jomar Krawec (Raleigh, North Carolina), performed Variety Shows for the community. Anyone who was ever acquainted with this incredible human being could not escape her infectious laugh. Just hearing her tell the tales of her life and experiences had one laughing and in tears. She graduated from Stratford High School and then graduated from the Utica School of Commerce where she went on to be employed by Utica Mutual Insurance Company. She had a career which she loved of supporting Chiefs of Police, Principals, Mayors and many other leaders of business. Her favorite role was when she supported the Oneida Police Department, Juvenile Aid section. She served on the Salisbury/Stratford Ambulance Corp., founded by her father. Noor’s talents didn’t stop there; she went on to earning her real estate license in Ilion where she had dozens of hilarious stories and mishaps. Her ultimate happy place was cooking for family and friends. If you were fortunate enough to be invited to dinner, she would have no less than 15 plates of food on the table that would put any professional chef to shame. Her Lebanese food was the best in the world, but her meatballs had everyone begging for more. You never left her home hungry. Did you ever catch her on the side of the road picking grape leaves for one of her specialty dishes? She would even cook for her dialysis technicians. She also always had flawless, long nails that would intrigue all. Some may recall how she wore beer cans in her hair as curlers because it was so long. She was one of the most elegant women that has ever graced our eyes. Saddened and heart-broken, she leaves behind a family that will forever have an emptiness in their hearts for the loss of Noor. Behind she leaves her husband, Timothy K. Bauder, (Ilion, NY), for whom she married 44 years ago; Her beloved son, Joseph JaQuay and Partner, Jeffrey Carlson, (Chicago, IL); stepchildren, Stephanie and Mark (husband) Blask, of Little Falls, New York and David and Karen (Wife) Bauder, of Herkimer, New York; her adoring sisters, Marjo Ellis and Jomar Krawec, of Raleigh, North Carolina; grandchildren, Benjamin, Madison, Jackson, Sheilisa, and Jordan. Left behind are many nieces and nephews and cousins who adored her. Also, the Matriarch of the family, Aunt Arzett Bosco, (Utica, New York). Last, but not least, her “baby kitty”, Madam. Finally, we would like to thank the nurses, doctors, dialysis technicians, private sitter, hair, and nail stylists and all who made her life as happy as anyone could ever want. “Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone, prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone. Silence the pianos and with muffled drum, bring out the coffin, let the mourners come.” -W.H. Auden, written 1938. Rest In Peace Our Beloved. We invite family and friends to join us for a very special Memorial Service that we have planned to take place in the Enea & Ciaccia Family Funeral Home chapel, on Thursday, July 29, 2021, at 12:00 PM.
