Obituary of Anthony J. Laura

FRANKFORT – Mr. Anthony J. “Tony” Laura, age 91, a longtime Frankfort resident, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 15, 2021 at The Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing at Mohawk Valley, Ilion. At the time of his passing, he had the love and support of family. Born on December 28, 1929, Tony was the son of the late Giuseppe and Grace (Sciortino) Laura. He was educated in Brooklyn schools continuing his education at Mohawk Valley Community College receiving an associate degree. On September 17, 1949, Tony was united in marriage to Charlotte VanDusen at St. Mary’s Church in Frankfort. Together, they shared in a blessed and devoted union of over seventy-one years; they were an inseparable couple who were deeply committed to one another and to their family. They truly lived by their marriage vows every day of their life together until Charlotte’s passing on May 15, 2021. Tony entered into the United States Air Force in 1952 honorably serving his country until his discharge in 1960. He was employed for many years with the Divine Brothers Co. in Utica until his retirement. In his spare time, he enjoyed sewing, drawing, watching the “Old Time” Brooklyn Dodgers, the New York Mets and solving Sudoku puzzles, which his sons stated, “He was really good at it!!” He was a longtime faithful parishioner of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church in Frankfort. Tony is survived by his sons, Keith Laura and Timothy Laura; his sister, Nina Rumrill and his sister-in-law, Prudy Laura, all of Frankfort. He also leaves countless nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother, Emanuele Laura and his in-laws, Lula DiCamillo, John, Joseph, George and Robert VanDusen; and William Rumrill. Tony’s family will gather privately to bid their farewells to him. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. Paul Catena at Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church and final committal will take place at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Frankfort.
