Obituary of Thomas C. Stubley

ILION – Thomas C. Stubley, age 84, of Columbia Parkway, Ilion, passed away peacefully, on Sunday, July 4, 2021, at Little Falls Hospital, with his family by his side. He was born on July 18, 1936, in Ilion, the son of Abraham and Regina (O’Shea) Stubley and attended Ilion schools. Tom was a veteran of the US Marines, serving in the Korean Conflict. On October 12, 1957, he was married to Diane Yavornitzki, at the Church of the Annunciation, Ilion. Tom was employed as a custodian at the Herkimer School System. In his early years, he was an Ilion police officer. He was a member of the Church of the Annunciation, Ilion and was a charter member of the Herkimer Co. Marine Corp. League. Surviving family members include his wife, Diane; his sons, Kevin Stubley and his wife, Teresa and Matthew Stubley and his wife, Deanna, all of Ilion; 3 granddaughters, Hannah Rae, Mikala and Mackenzie Stubley; his sister, Sylvia Essenter; his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Emily and Joe Duffy, Fran Stubley, Bill Yavornitzki and Marilyn Yavornitzki; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his sisters, Rita Stubley, Isabelle Murray, Elizabeth Brunn and Marilyn Lahey; his brothers, Herman “Ben” Stubley and Richard Stubley; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Ruth Yavornitzki; his brother-in-law, John Yavornitzki. Calling hours will be held on Friday, July 9, 2021, from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home’s larger location, at 4309 Acme Rd. (Old Main St.), Ilion (Town of Frankfort). Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 10, 2021, at 10:00 a.m., at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home’s larger location, at 4309 Acme Rd. (Old Main St.), Ilion (Town of Frankfort). Anyone planning to attend calling hours or funeral service are asked to please wear a mask inside the funeral home and practice social distancing for everyone’s safety. Thank you.
