Obituary of Michael A Liscio

 

LITTLE FALLS - Mr. Michael A. Liscio, age 90 of Little Falls, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Friday, January 12, 2018. He was born on August 14, 1927 in Little Falls, NY to the late Nichola and Assunda (Lamanna) Liscio. At the age of 16, Mike enlisted in the United States Navy during World War II where he served on the Destroyer USS Soley (DD-707). Upon returning, he earned his high school diploma from Little Falls Junior/Senior High School. He then enlisted in the United States Army during the Korean War and was stationed with the Fox Company 6th Infantry Regiment. Following his military career, he was employed as a carpenter and was then hired by the  United States Postal Service where he served as a Letter Carrier for the Little Falls Post Office for 30 years.

 

He entered into marriage to Lena DeAngelis on September 14, 1963 at St. Joseph’s Church. Mike was a loving father, husband, grandfather and friend to many. Mike was an avid lover of sports and enjoyed following the Little Falls Mounties. Most of all he loved being home with his wife and spending time with his family. He was a member of the former St. Joseph’s Church, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister and a Lector. He was also a member of the Holy Names Society, the Nocturnal Adoration Society, the Men’s Club, and the DeCarlo - Staffo Post #8, Italian Veterans. He also coached the CYO basketball team for St. Joseph’s. Later in life, Mike was a member of the Board of Education and also served as Board President.

 

Mike leaves behind his soulmate, Lena, his daughter Michele N. Trzepacz of Little Falls, his son Michael Liscio and wife Gina of Little Falls; his sister Assunda Barone of Highland, NY; his cherished grandchildren, Angela Jasewicz and husband Brandon, Daniel Trzepacz, and Nathan, Alexander, Avery, Ayden and Gianna Liscio. He also leaves behind Paul Trzepacz, father of Angela and Daniel; Victoria Santopadre, mother of Nathan and Alexander; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his twin brothers Patsy and Rocco.

 

Friends and relatives are invited to attend Mike’s calling hours on Monday, January 15, 2018 from 4:00 - 7:00 pm at the Enea Family Funeral Home at 24 West Monroe Street, Little Falls, NY. Funeral services for Mike will commence on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at 12:30 pm at the funeral home and at 1:00 pm at the Holy Family Parish Church in Little Falls, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. Terrence Healy, Pastor. Internment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, East Herkimer, where Mike will be laid to rest and honored with full military rites.
