Obituary of Olga (Kopek) Urich

 

LITTLE FALLS – Mrs. Olga (Kopek) Urich, age 96, a longtime Little Falls resident, passed away on Tuesday evening January 9, 2018 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

 

Olga was born December 18, 1921 in Little Falls, NY; daughter to parents Maksym and Anna (Belniew) Kopek. Olga graduated from Little Falls High School in1940. Upon graduation, she worked for Felt Shoe Factory in Little Falls. Later she worked for The Montgomery Ward catalog office in Little Falls and lastly as a library aid in the Little Falls High School. Olga had an older brother, John Kopek, who predeceased her and an older sister Catherine Merena who also predeceased her. Olga was married to Henry Urich in 1942 at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church. They had 3 children , Robert Urich, deceased, and wife Norine, deceased of Greenville, South Carolina, Patricia Andrews and husband Richard, Murrells Inlet, South Carolina and Richard Urich and wife Brenda, Ft Myers, Florida. Henry died in 1994. Olga resided in Little Falls for most of her life. She and her sister lived together later in life and later still Olga moved to Rockton Plaza in Little Falls. She made many friends and enjoyed her time at Rockton Plaza. Olga was very proud of her grandchildren and especially loved playing with her great grandchildren. Olga spent 8 winters with her daughter and son in law in Charleston and then Murrells Inlet playing games and just loving her great grandchildren. She was always amazed how smart her grandchildren and great grandchildren were and no matter where she lived had countless pictures to share with her friends. Her last two years of life she lived at Myrtle Beach Estates close to her daughter and family. She made many new friends there and was active in many activities.

 

Olga was a member of St Nicolas Ukrainian Catholic Church and later Holy Family Parish. Her grandchildren are: Lynne Curtis and husband John, Michael Andrews, Marcus Andrews and wife Erin, Meghan Malone and husband Brian, Brian Urich, Jonathan Urich, Jeffrey Urich and wife Alicia, Cary Urich and wife Krista, Scott Urich and wife Courtney. Great grandchildren: Kaitlin Curtis, Lauren Curtis, Benjamin Malone, Matthew Malone, Jack Malone, Morgan Andrews, Natalia Urich, Peyton Urich, Madison Urich, Andrew Urich, Katelyn Urich, Allison Urich, William Urich, Jay Urich, and Anna Urich.

 

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday January 16, 2018 at 11:00 AM at The Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 West Monroe Street in Little Falls, NY with Deacon Joseph DeLorenzo officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, town of Herkimer. Calling hours at the funeral home are prior to the service on Tuesday from 10 until 11 AM.
