Obituary of Doris (Gifford) Marocco

 

LITTLE FALLS - Mrs. Doris (Gifford) Marocco, age 93, a lifelong Little Falls resident, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, January 3, 2018 at Bassett Hospital, Cooperstown.

 

Born on July 28, 1924, Doris was the daughter of James and Sarah Gifford. Doris was employed for many years by local dress factories and later at Mohawk Data Sciences. She was also a gifted seamstress and baker and shared those gifts with her family. Doris was devoted to her Catholic faith. A lifelong member of Holy Family Parish, she served many years as a Eucharistic minister at Alpine Nursing Center and as a religious education instructor. She was also a lifetime member of the Rosary Society and its president at one time.

 

In 1943, she and Lawrence A. Marocco were married in Cooke County, Texas where Lawrence was stationed while serving in the army. They shared 39 years of marriage until Lawrence’s passing on March 27, 1983.

 

Doris was a devoted mother and grandmother and is survived by her loving daughters, Lorraine Marocco of Little Falls and Donna (Marocco) Daniels and her husband Robert Daniels of Little Falls. She also leaves her grandchildren, Lauren Marocco of Morresville, NC,  Erica (Daniels) Marciano and her husband Michael Marciano of Manlius, and Matthew Daniels of Little Falls; her great grandchildren Cole Marciano, Grace Marciano, Emilia Marciano, and Zoe Daniels; and her sisters-in-law, Antonetta Schaffer of Herkimer and Mary Gifford in Oregon; and several nieces and nephews.

 

Besides her husband, Lawrence, Doris was predeceased by her ten siblings: brothers Walter, Harold, Richard, Edward, Robert, Francis and Donald Gifford; sisters Rita Burnetter, Sally Western, and Mary Rathbun; and her brothers and sisters-in-law John and Amelia Collis, Edward and Lydia Krutz, John and Clare Kerzic and Jack Schaffer.

 

Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects on Saturday, January 6, 2018 from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe Street, Little Falls. A Funeral Mass to follow at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Parish Church. Burial will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery, town of Herkimer.
