Castellano and Almond families:
We dearly wish we could be there for the services but circumstances dictate we can not. Natalie once told me she held a special affection for her Aunt Rose and Uncle Bob. Just wanted to tell the family that when cousin Marie and I sat down to feed Aunt Rose last night , I flicked on the radio, and out of the blue, the song "We Are Family" came on as the first song! We know that was a sign from heaven you were stopping by to say hi , Nat!
While we didn't want you to cross over so soon, it looks like God decided your crown was ready! Thank you for brightening so many lives and for all your hard work and hospitality! We will see you again soon! Love always, and enjoy your heavenly reward until we meet again! Love, your familia from Syracuse!

My best memory of Mrs Almond, was when she took Don and I (Sam Mammen) to bingo on Bleeker st. I think we were like 10 years old. I remember that night especially because everyone but me won. Their were many times I came close but never won. At the end Mrs Almond and Don (my best friend) shared their winnings. Which I didn't expect. Which made me feel like a winner too.

Natalie…where do I start?! The memories you have made while on this earth are nothing short of a miracle. Never have we seen anyone with so much zest for life, so much love in her heart, and so much food on a holiday table! I should know because you always teased me about which desserts would capture my sweet tooth!
Your husband and children, grandchildren, aunts, uncles, sister-in-laws, brothers, cousins, extended family and friends, have been in shreds this week over your passing. We know how much you loved us and how much we love you. Each of us will love you until the end of our own lives.
You have led a life that is not only immeasurable by the stars in the sky, but each new twinkle of the stars symbolizes you making a new friend or acquaintance. There is not one moment that you could not befriend someone or start up a conversation with a stranger who shortly thereafter became known as friend. We have shared so many funny times as well!
I remember being pregnant for Frankie, and you and Don and Frank and I going to Vernon Downs to bet the horses. And, who walks in but professional boxers including Joe Frazier. It was then that you and Frank laughingly said, “Our baby will be a little boxer.” Little did we know years later, that Frankie would literally get into the sport of boxing – and I as his mother so happy that he got that out of his system, well for the most part.
Then, there was that K-Mart performance! You found this quirky little doll, the King of Soul, James Brown. You pushed the button on his pant leg and he sang (and very loudly) “I Got You (I feel Good).” You busted out singing, belting it out and doing the dance movements as well. You drew a crowd and they watched until the end. But, you did not know it because you were singing to me and I was laughing hysterically! You turned around when I pointed behind you and whether you were a little embarrassed or not, you took a bow and we left the store. That was a great day!
How about a more recent event – you and I at the Teresa Caputo performance at The Stanley?! We had a nice dinner beforehand and then listened to so many wonderful stories recanted by people who have had their own sadness in life. I had never heard of her, but wow, what a great night! I hope that if she comes back to Utica that me and some of your family can go so that we can hope for a visit from you through her.
It would be amazing to know what you are doing in heaven – but I think I have an inkling. You, your dad and your mom are at a casino playing the slots! We hope you hit it big! We hope you are happy! And, we know that you are so proud of your children and grandchildren and the people they have become or are becoming.
Do not worry about us, Natalie. We are gathering together and will be each other’s support system. From everyone here in this blasted cold wintery village of Frankfort, we love you. Whisper in our ears from time to time. Life won’t be the same without you – but until we meet again, keep dancing, dear sister-in-law. Love you!
By the way, is it you that pushed Tamrin into active labor the day after your passing?! Yes, baby Aarik is here and he would have loved to meet you! But, no worries, we will all make sure he knows everything about you! The memories will delight him!

Dearest Niece, As I write the tears are flowing down my face. I cannot believe you are gone. I love you so much and will miss you dearly. I respect you because you were like my mom, always trying to keep the traditions and trying to keep the family together. I'm glad I at least got to talk to you two weeks ago. We laughed together and we cried together through good and sad times. Now I am so saddened by losing you.
Your family will miss you dearly because of the love you felt for them and dedication of your life to them. My sincere condolences to them. Jesus, you have a new angel who deserves to be there by your side. Take good care of her as we will miss her.
If Tears Could Build A Stairway
If tears could build a stairway,
and memories a lane.
I would walk right up to Heaven
and bring you back again.
No farewell words were spoken,
No time to say "Goodbye".
You were gone before I knew it,
and only God knows why.
My heart still aches with sadness,
and secret tears still flow.
What it meant to love you -
No one can ever know.
But now I know you want me
to mourn for you no more;
To remember all the happy times
life still has much in store.
Since you'll never be forgotten,
I pledge to you today~
A hollowed place within my heart
is where you'll always stay.

No words can tell you the way my heart feels. When my dad called and told me and Donna I went numb. Natalie was always a part of my life whether I saw her everyday or once a year. I looked at her as kind of a head of the family after her parents passed as she had that way about her. And the way she was there for our kids after our own tradjedy could never be measured or expressed in words. While my heart breaks for her husband, children and siblings, I have some comfort knowing she is with my uncle frank, aunt Mary and all the other family we have lost in our lives. One thing I will promise you Natalie, I will always make sure that this family knows how important the lyrics are to sister sledge " we are family ".....Donna and I will never forget, never stop loving and will always keep this family together....we love you, miss you, and will always cherish the time we had...give my grandparents and all others a huge hug and tell them I love them and remember......we are family

Natalie was like family to us. She treated us as her own family. It came to us as a shock that she passed away. She was a very caring and loving person. She always treated our family with respect and deeply attached to my sons, Sohum and Om. We will never forget the happiness in her face as my children walked through the doors of our store. She would always greet us with hugs and kisses. She was with us for 14 years and was one of the hardest working woman that we ever knew. We will never be able to replace her. She was a wonderful woman and will be missed. We still can’t believe that she is not with us anymore. We are very sorry for your loss. May god let her soul Rest In Peace and she will forever be in our prayers.

All of us on the reunion committee for the Solaro Sisters are just still in shock. Some knew her and some didn't when we started, but we all got to enjoy each other's company at our "planning" meetings. Sometimes we did more eating than planning!! Natalie was the type of person that you meet today and feel as if you knew her all your life. If it wasn't for her, we would not have had the abundance of Carbone descendents at our reunion. She rounded them all up and got them to attend. We all miss her terribly. RIP my friend. Won't be the same without you. Wish we had more time together.

When I think about family and my sister-in-law Natalie's exuberance for life, it is because of her family. The opportunity to start each day with those she loved was immeasurably important for her. She loved bigger than the moon, the stars, and the universe.
She was famous for living life each day as it was her last. She had a heart of gold, spun with silver. What I mean by this, is that she gave her heart to everyone, and was integrated into the fabric of everybody’s lives – from her family and friends to the residents of the Village and Town of Frankfort. Every cloud has a silver lining - and beyond that lining is a story - Natalie's silver lining or story - "I love you all. Do not be sad. We made a beautiful life together."
Brothers, sisters-in-laws, aunts, uncles, children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, new acquaintances – Natalie befriended everyone. She was bigger than life itself and the very reason everyone is still in shock and reeling by her passing. She never forgot a birthday, an anniversary, and dancing – her life was a beautiful dance. She could not wait to hit the dance floor when the music moved her – and even if it did not – she was still moving. She was the life of the party, gave the word “loud” its reputation, and laughed and lived big.
Sister-in-law, I am going to miss you. You were the smiling face that warmed my heart when your brother first brought me to your home in Utica to meet you and your family, when Frank and I began dating. Our many years together now seem light-years away as I realize I am not going to see you regularly.
Going to the Country Farms store will not be the same – if I do not see your face peeking out the door I do not want to go there anymore. I am sure the morning coffee gang – Billy Dow, you know I mean you and your pals; it will not be the same without Natalie there.
Everyone who has felt Natalie's presence by her kindnesses and her jovial personality understands how much she has impacted our lives. Her heart of gold spun with silver will forever be in our hearts as we think of her often, miss her daily, and live on knowing that she has been a huge part of all our lives.
To family and friends, if I know anything at all, Natalie would not want us to be sad. She would want us to love more, live large, and continue to hold onto the values that made her life and ours have meaning – the value of friends and family spending time together. Let's keep her memory alive in our hearts.
She will be looking in on all of us from time to time – and when you get that urge to laugh at nothing in particular, then you will know it is Natalie whispering in your ear. She loved us all and we are better for having had her in our lives. Rest in peace, dear sister-in-law. I will think of you often. Love you.
