Obituary of Natalie (Castellano) Almond

FRANKFORT – Mrs. Natalie (Castellano) Almond, passed away very unexpectedly surrounded with the utmost amount of love; with her beloved family at her side on Wednesday morning January 3, 2018 at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Utica, NY. Natalie was 59 years of age.

Born on June 11, 1958, Natalie was the daughter of the late Francis “Custy” and Mary (Ivarone) Castellano. She was raised locally and received her education from Frankfort schools. She attended Beauty Hairdressing school at a young age. Natalie was wed to Mr. Donald R. Almond at St. Mary’s Church in Frankfort officiated by Rev. Alfred Lamanna. Together they raised a family and shared a lifetime of love and of marriage, having been sweethearts since the ages of 15.

Natalie was a hardworking and independent woman who strived to provide the best for herself and for her family. She was a wonderful woman, nice to everyone and was a leader. We all loved to go to Country Farms in Frankfort and talk to her and she would listen and advise us. In return she would talk to us about her family which would put a big smile on her face. The opportunity to start each day with those she loved was immeasurably important to her. Natalie’s sister-in-law, Connie, has helped us shed light on her life. Natalie was famous for living each day as it was her last. She had a heart of gold, she gave her heart to everyone, and was integrated into the fabric of everybody’s lives; from her family and friends to the residents of the Village and Town of Frankfort. Every cloud has a silver lining, and beyond that lining is a story. Natalie’s silver lining or story, “I love you all. Do not be sad. We made a beautiful life together.” Natalie was the life of the party, gave the word “loud” its reputation, and laughed and lived big. She absolutely loved the New York Football Giants. She won trophies in the sport of bowling and was an integral part of the Solaro Sister’s Family Reunion. Natalie’s biggest hobby of all was her family and catering to all of us. Natalie would not want us to be sad. She would want us to love more, live large, and continue to hold onto the values that made her life and ours have meaning; the value of friends and family and spending time together. Let’s keep her memory alive and in our hearts.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Donald; her children, sons: Donald Almond and Patricia Lora and David and Julie Almond; her daughters, Natalie Almond, Jr. and Bud Marston and Nadine Almond and Benjamin Ripp; her cherished grandchildren, Emily Almond, Danielle Almond, Logan Almond, Melanie Almond, Isabella Almond, and Donald Almond. Her brothers and sisters-in-law, Joseph and wife Linda Castellano, Frank and wife Connie Castellano, and James and wife Anna Castellano. Her mother-in-law, Rose Almond, brother-in-law, Albert Almond and sister-in-law, Lucy Spina. Aunt & Uncle Margaret & Peter Sebregandio, Aunt & Uncle Patricia & Joseph Castellano, Aunt Rita DeSantis, Aunt Lucy Rumbutis, Aunt Linda DeGrace, and Uncle Joseph Caputo. Her beloved nieces and nephews, Lisa Castellano, Sara Castellano, Joseph Castellano, Ronald Castellano, Frankie Castellano, Donnie Castellano, Dominic Castellano, Carly Castellano, Jamie Castellano, Nicholas Castellano, and Anthony Spina and several cousins.

Besides her parents Frank and Mary, Natalie was predeceased by her aunt Mary Ann Castellano.

Friends and relatives are invited to pay their respects on Sunday evening, January 7, 2018, from 4:00PM - 8:00PM at the Enea & Ciaccia Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, Town of Frankfort, Ilion, NY (315) 894-8000. Natalie’s funeral service will commence on Monday morning, January 8, 2018, at 9:45AM at the funeral home and at 10:30AM at Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church in Frankfort, where her Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. Paul Catena, Pastor. Interment will be in the spring, 2018 at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frankfort, where her earthly remains will be laid to rest.

Natalie will be looking in on all of us from time to time. And, when we get that urge to laugh at nothing in particular; then you will know it is Natalie whispering in our ear. She loved us all and we are better for having had her in our lives. Rest in peace dear Natalie, we shall think of you often. We Love You!

Natalie’s services have been arranged with Funeral Directors Harry J. & Kevin E. Enea (you are an inspiration dearest Natalie) and Martin L. Ciaccia. Online notes of sympathy may be delivered by visiting www.eneafamily.com on the Internet.
