Obituary of Nancy G. Stanburg

ILION – Mrs. Nancy G. Stanburg, age 76, passed away peacefully on New Year’s Day, January 1, 2018, at the Masonic Care Community of CNY.

 

Born on September 12, 1941, Nancy was the daughter of the late N. Wayne and Virginia (Cardner) Potter. She was born and raised in Canastota and attended local schools. On March 23, 1991, Nancy was wed to Mr. Ronald “Ron” Stanburg and together they shared in a loving union of eleven years, until Ron’s passing on September 22, 2002.

 

Nancy was a dedicated and hardworking employee who spent thirty-seven with the Masonic Care Community as a Unit Clerk. She was blessed to receive her care there at the end of her life’s journey, surrounded by her co-workers and those she loved. She was also involved within her community and was a Past President of the American Legion Ladies’ Auxiliary Post #920.

 

Survivors include her daughters, Michele Niksa and Debbie Watkins; her stepdaughters, Colleen Stanburg (Billy) and Linda Castellano (Joe); many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, with special mention of her niece, Diane Medici (Anthony) and her nephew, Wayne Potter (Noli).

 

Besides her husband and parents, Nancy was predeceased by her sister, Maureen Potter and her nephew, Stanley Potter.

 

A SPRING GRAVESIDE SERVICE for Nancy will be held on Friday, May 11, 2018 at 11:30AM at Mohawk Cemetery in the Village of Mohawk. Friends and relatives are welcome to attend.
