Obituary of Andrew M Korce

MOHAWK:  Andrew Korce, 92, died peacefully at home on Sunday morning, October 8, 2017.

He was born the third of four children to Andrew and Jennie (Poseta) Korce on April 11, 1925 in the home he lived in all of his life on Sandy Lane Road.  He joined the army in 1943 and drove a tank with the 102nd Calvary on D-Day at Normandy Beach.  Six months later in the Battle of the Bulge, he froze his feet and was put on limited service in England until the end of the war.  In 1947 he bought his father’s dairy farm and married Teresa Murphy of Fairfield.  He was the Supervisor of the Town of Little Falls for 30 years.  Andy loved dancing, the woods, double pinochle, OTB, and the Catholic Church. 

He is predeceased by his granddaughter, Christie Maria Sagatis, his brother, John and sister, Jennie.  He is survived by his wife, Teresa; his six children; Tom and Barb (Gaherty), Dennis and Joy (Waterbury), Mary Joan, and Katy and John Sagatis- all of Mohawk, as well as Alan and Coleen (Booth) of Santa Fe, New Mexico and Peter and Lisa (Reardon) of Kingsland, Texas.  He leaves behind 15 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren and one on the way.

Visitation for Andrew will take place at his home at 257 Sandy Lane Road, Mohawk, NY on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 anytime all day.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 11, 2017, at Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church, 412 South Frankfort Street, Frankfort, NY, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Paul Catena, Pastor.  Procession will then follow to Mohawk Cemetery where he will be laid to rest with military honors.

In lieu of flowers, please consider Mass intentions in Andrew’s memory.  Envelopes will be available at the family home.
