Obituary of Ralph Blanchard

HERKIMER – Mr. Ralph L. Blanchard, Jr., a resident of Valley Health Services and formerly of Herkimer and New Hartford, NY, passed away on the morning of Sunday September 24, 2017.

 

Ralph was born in Cooperstown, NY on February 26, 1929 to Ralph and Gladys Blanchard. He grew up in Oneonta and graduated from high school there. He had attended all of his class reunions, right up to last summers. He was proud to serve his country in Korea and remembered his days as a cryptologist fondly. He was employed in retail management in his younger days, and finished his working years in real estate management.

 

He was an avid member of the Herkimer Rotary Club and was honored to receive The Paul Harris Fellow award. He was a 10 -year member of the Friends of Bassett board and chairman of the Planned Giving Community. He was recognized for his dedication to the facility at Magic of Herkimer, 2008, something he was very proud of.

 

He was predeceased by his wife Ada in July of 2017. He is survived by his children Lesa and Lars Blanchard and their spouses. He also leaves his three grandchildren, Nina Vitalino and Liam and Ethan Blanchard.

His funeral arrangements have been established with The Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 North Washington Street in Herkimer, NY (315) 866-1011 and consist of a graveside ceremony to be held on Saturday September 30, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Westville Cemetery where Ralph and Ada will be placed to rest. Those wishing to join us at the cemetery can note the following cemetery address: 2740 County Highway 35, Middlefield, NY. It is 8 miles from Cooperstown. There are no calling hours.
