Obituary of Jane Zajac

Mrs. Jane F. (Pezdek) Zajac, 84, a resident of Folts Homes, Herkimer, passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2002, at that facility. Born in New York Mills on July 10, 1918, Jane attended schools there and moved to Herkimer in 1947 with her husband John S. Zajac. The couple were wed on June 29, 1941 at St. Mary's Church in New York Mills. Together they operated the former Zajac's Bakery on King Street in Herkimer for many years. Jane was an actively involved Herkimer resident, participating as a member of Sts. Anthony & Joseph Church along with its Rosary Society, the St. Joseph's Church Choir and the Michael S. Pliseck VFW Post Auxiliary. She is survived by her husband, John; a daughter, Joan Houndalas-Zajac and husband Thomas of Los Angeles, California; and two sisters, Stella Gates of Utica and Gladys Martin of Utica; and several in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins. Her parents, Thomas and Clara (Jasiak) Pezdek, preceded her in death. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, December 24, at 9 a.m. at the Church of Sts. Anthony & Joseph, Herkimer, with Rev. Robert Shinos, pastor, officiating. The church Rosary Society will be on hand to form an honor guard. Interment will be in Sts. Stanislaus & Casimer Cemetery, Whitesboro. There are no public calling hours. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Holleran-Enea Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington St., Herkimer. Those wishing may contribute in Jane's memory to either the Folts Homes or the Church of Sts. Anthony & Joseph.
