Obituary of Arlene Vicciarelli

Arlene R. Vicciarelli, 74, of 15 Sanders St., St. Johnsville, passed away Friday, Sept. 27, 2002 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born Sept. 29, 1928 in the town of Danube, daughter of the late Clarence and Fannie (Brown) Hotaling. Arlene was educated in Fort Plain schools and lived most of her life in he St. Johnsville area. Her marriage to Anthony Vicciarelli took place on June 23, 1951 at the Grace Congregational United Church of Christ in St. Johnsville. The couple shared a blessed union of marriage for 49 years until the passing of Mr. Vicciarelli on April 6, 2001. Mrs. Vicciarelli was last employed at the former Little Falls Footwear in St. Johnsville. Because Arlene considered her family to be her foremost priority, she gave her full attention to the needs and concerns of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Survivors include her two daughters, Sandra Ouderkirk of Bradenton, Fla. and Theresa White and husband Donald of Fort Plain; three sons, William Vicciarelli and wife Kathleen of St. Johnsville, Anthony Vicciarelli and wife Angela of St. Johnsville, and Vincent Vicciarelli of Fort Plain; a brother, Donald Hotaling and wife Lois of North Carolina; a sister, Frances Tarbox of Herkimer; 17 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Deborah S. Vicciarelli; a great-grandson, Taylor Hawver; and a brother, Clarence Hotaling. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 1 at 11 a.m. from the Smith-Woody and Enea Funeral Home, 9 Center St., St. Johnsville, with Sister Dolores Stevens of St. Patrick's Church officiating. Interment will follow in St. Johnsville Cemetery. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home on Monday, Sept. 30 from 6-8 p.m. All memorial contributions may be made to Bassett Healthcare Cancer Center. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
