Obituary of Lillian Congdon

Lillian A. Congdon, 88, of 101 Valley Brook Rd., Fort Plain, passed away on Sunday, December 28, 2003, at Little Falls Hospital. She was born June 19, 1915, in Starkville, daughter of the late George and Carrie (Goodrich) Harlow and was educated in Jordanville schools. Lillian lived most of her life in the Fort Plain area. Her marriage to Clarence Congdon took place on November 24, 1933. Mr. Congdon passed away in 1985. Lillian was last employed at the former Palatine Dye Co. in St. Johnsville. At one time she worked at the former Allegro Shoe Co. in Little Falls. Survivors include four sons, Earl Congdon and wife, Jere, of Nelliston, Donald Congdon and wife, Joan, of Little Falls, Fred Congdon and friend, Eleth, of Fort Plain and Raymond Congdon and wife, Betty, of Little Falls; three daughters, Lois Weber and husband, David, of Fort Plain, Edith Sheehan and husband, Bill, of Copenhagen and Myrtle Fuhs and husband, Robert, of Fort Plain; 32 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Edna Harlow and Rosemary Harlow; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by two brothers, Jesse Harlow and Fred Harlow; and two sisters, Velma Looman and Golda Congdon. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 31, at 11 a.m. from the Smith-Woody and Enea Funeral Home, 9 Center St., St. Johnsville, with Reverend Nancy Ryan, pastor of the Fort Plain Reformed Church, officiating. Spring interment will be in Fort Plain Cemetery. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 30, from 5-8 p.m.
