Obituary of James David Putnam, III

James David Putnam, III, (affectionately known as Jim, Jimmy, Putty and Putter) was taken from this life all too soon when he passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, February 12, 2023. He was 24 years old. Born on March 17, 1998, Jim is the son of James D. and Wendy A. (Guile) Putnam. His upbringing and childhood years were spent in Frankfort where he flourished in a small town atmosphere. He was a graduate with the Frankfort-Schuyler Class of 2017. Jimmy was a foodie in more ways than one and throughout the years he worked for various Mohawk Valley pizzerias, primarily for Slice, Flat Iron and the former Big Willy’s. He was very talented in the kitchen and would often take his knowledge home with him, even giving his mother pointers on how to better cook! He was a young man with a large personality and it was his social, outgoing ways that attracted others and he made friends very easily. He had a great sense of humor and the most distinct laugh and everywhere he went he was the life of the party. Jimmy simply knew how to have fun! While most would remember his vivacious side, his closest circle knew another side of Putty…the big teddy bear side. He was the constant protector for his younger siblings and always watched out for others; playing the enforcer to protect those that got picked on or unfairly treated. Jim had a very caring heart and was always conscientious and respectful of his elders. He was an old soul and a proud member of the St. Francis di Paola Society. His presence will forever be missed by his family, friends and community and his memory will forever live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind. He is survived by his parents and best friends, Jim and Wendy; his siblings, Joshua and Allison; his beloved grandmother, Thelma Putnam; his aunts and uncles, Christine and Joseph Coniguliaro and Dan Guile and Sally Johnson; his cousins, Daniel Guile, Stream Coniguliaro, Quinn Coniguliaro and Benjamin Coniguliaro; along with many more aunts, uncles and cousins. He also leaves his best friends, Justin Vallone and Matthew Iocovozzi. Jim was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, James D. Putnam, and by his maternal grandparents, Charles and Mary Jane Guile. Friends and relatives are invited to attend calling hours on Saturday, February 18, 2023, from 11:00AM – 1:00PM at the Enea & Ciaccia Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, Town of Frankfort, Ilion, NY (315) 894-8000. Jim’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence at 1:00PM at the funeral home immediately upon the conclusion of visitation. Spring interment will take place in Oak Hill Cemetery in Herkimer. Members of the St. Francis di Paola Society are asked to gather at the funeral home at 12:45PM in order to pay their respects as a group and perform their ritualistic service for Jimmy. For those wishing to do so, please consider memorial contributions to the family to help offset final expenses.
