Obituary of Franklin Johnston

Franklin Johnston, Jr., age 63, passed away on January 15, 2023 at the Little Falls Hospital with his loving family by his side. He was born on April 30, 1959 in Utica NY to the late Franklin and Betty Johnston. He is survived by his big brother, Philander Johnston of Mohawk, his baby brother, Carl Johnston and sister-in-law, Karen Johnston of Ilion and his baby sis (as he always called her) Alice Coleman and brother-in-law, Kevin Coleman of Frankfort. He loved all his nieces and nephews as he leaves 8 nieces and 4 nephews, Lisa Johnston, Leona Smith, Laura Johnston, Lena Wildey, Amy Lisandrelli, Krista Darling, Nicole Pavia and Samantha Neri, George Johnston, Philip Johnston, Carl Johnston, Jr. and Kevin Coleman, Jr. He also leaves 11 great-nephews, 9 great-nieces and 1 great-great nephew. They all loved their Uncle Franky. Franky will always be known as someone who would always help anyone, family, friends and neighbors. He took pride in being a helpful and caring neighbor and they thought highly of him. He enjoyed spending time with his family and his good friend, Jessie Whaley, whether it be on his porch, in a backyard with a fire or on many family camping trips. Franky was definitely an animal lover; his dogs, Foxy and Teddy and his cat, Mittens, were his companions and he spoiled them because they were his kids! We would like to thank Franky’s nurse at Foltsbrook, Amanda, for taking such good care of him and showing him love, compassion and understanding when he was having a difficult time. She went above and beyond her duties and definitely gave him happy thoughts. A special thanks to his “nephew” Mark for his Saturday morning shaves, strolls to the chapel to pray, which Franky always looked forward to, and his adventures to Walmart and Burger King. The Johnston family has entrusted the care of their beloved brother and uncle to the Enea & Ciaccia Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, Town of Frankfort, Ilion, NY (315) 894-8000. There will be no calling hours. Interment and a graveside prayer will take place on Monday, January 30, 2023 at 10:30AM at Forest Hill Cemetery, 2201 Oneida Street, Utica, NY for immediate family and close friends to attend.
