Obituary of Jane Urtz

MOHAWK – Jane Urtz, age 88, of Catherine St., Mohawk, passed away, on Thursday, January 5, 2023, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Utica. She was born on March 25, 1934, in Utica, NY, the daughter of Leamon and Ethel (Bunce) Steele and graduated from Mohawk Central School. On September 1, 1972, she was married to David Urtz. He died on August 17, 2022. Jane was employed as a bookkeeper, at Holt Bros., of Mohawk, for 30 years, retiring in 1966. She was very fond of cats. Surviving family members include her son, Jeffrey Crutcher and his wife, Susan, of Poughkeepsie, NY; her grandson, James Crutcher, of Whispering Pines, NC; her great-granddaughter, Sierra; her brothers-in-law, Harold Blovat, of Ilion and Don Urtz and his wife, Joyce, of Richfield Springs, NY; her sister-in-law, Lorraine (Urtz) Covell, of Ilion; several nieces and nephews, including Susan Meeker and her husband, Don, Beth LaBarge and her husband, Dennis, Chester and Billy Blovat and Wendy Chapman and her husband, Brad and her children, Bambi and Rock. She was predeceased by her stepson, David Urtz, in 1979; her husband, David, in 2022; her parents, her sisters, Eileen Blovat and Lois Treen; and her stepsister, Doris Windecker. Visitation will be held 11:00 a.m. to 12 noon, on Friday, January 13, 2023, at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home’s original location, at 102 West St., Ilion. Funeral Services will be held at 12 noon, Friday, January 13, 2023, at the funeral home, at the conclusion of visitation.
