Obituary of Glenis Heiland

ILION-CEDARVILLE – Glenis Heiland, 83, of Cedarville, passed away, on Tuesday, January 3, 2023. She was born on April 12, 1939, in Corinth, NY, the daughter of Glendon Shipman and Ada (Colson) Shipman. She graduated from Ilion High School. On November 12, 1958, she was married to William R. “Bill” Heiland, at the St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church, Ilion. He died on February 12, 2007. In her early years, she held several administrative positions, at UNIVAC and Duofold. Most recently, in the 1980’s, Glenis co-founded the Superior Home Healthcare, of Mohawk. She enjoyed quilting, crafts and traveling to the St. Lawrence and other trips, with her husband. Glenis had a deep love for animals. Surviving family members include her daughters, Tamara “Tami” Heiland and her fiancé, Steven LaValley, of Herkimer and Laurie Heiland-Crouch and her husband, James, of Ilion; her 5 grandchildren, Christina Pafumi and her husband, Larry, of Maine, William Bellstedt, of Herkimer, Janelle Crouch-Murray and her husband, Seamus, of Syracuse, Karl Rice, of Frankfort and Journey Crouch, of Ilion; her 4 great-grandchildren, Syd Williams, of Maine, Allison Bellstedt, of Kentucky, Dana Rice and Charlotte Rice, of Ilion; her sister, Luella Harper, of Ilion; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, Bill; her parents; her brothers, Bruce and George Shipman; and her sister, Annabelle Shipman. Calling hours will be held on Friday, January 6, 2023, from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home’s original location, at 102 West St., Ilion. Funeral Services will be held 5:30 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home.
