Obituary of Beverly Jean Horton

ILION - Beverly Jean “Jeanie” Horton, age 84, of Cottage St., in Ilion, passed away peacefully, on Thursday, December 1, 2022, at Little Falls Hospital. She was born on June 10, 1938, in Northville, New York, to George H. and Anna Mabel (Menges) Horton. She was the second of two children. Jeanie had a love of anything soft and cuddly, especially cats and her stuffed animals. Jeanie loved to be warm and cozy and her favorite times were being snuggled up in her chair or bed watching “I Love Lucy” and other old shows and movies. She was at her happiest then. Though Jeanie usually didn’t have much to say, when she did speak to you, she told you exactly what she thought. When she was happy with you there was lots of hugs, kisses and hand holding, but when she was not happy with you, she let you know that as well and sometimes that was without words. Jeanie was feisty and knew what she wanted and she kept everyone on their toes. She will always be remembered, always be loved and always sadly missed. Jeanie is survived by one brother, George A. Horton, of Frostproof, Florida; and one cousin, Sue Brown, of Northville. She is also survived by her loving Arc Herkimer family, especially her loved ones at her Cottage St. home, in Ilion and her Day Program at S. Washington St., in Herkimer, who were there to surround her with love in her final days. She is predeceased by her parents; and her long-time boyfriend, Ted Havens. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 6, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 North Washington Street, Herkimer, NY 13350. A Service of Remembrance will be offered at 11:00 a.m. Then, interment will be alongside her family, at Salisbury Rural Cemetery.
