Obituary of Robert F. Rando

HERKIMER – Mr. Robert F. Rando, age 68, a lifelong Herkimer resident, passed away on Wednesday, October 12, 2022, at the Siegenthaler Center, Town of Kirkland, New York. We all affectionately remember him as Bob and Robbie, a great man of strength and character. He received wonderful compassionate attention from Hospice & Palliative Care, of which we are grateful. He was born May 23, 1954, in Herkimer, New York, the son of the late Robert E. and Frances (Casale) Rando. Bob was a graduate of Herkimer High School, class of 1973. Bob worked at Herkimer County Highway Department (Supervisor-Foreman), for over 31 years, before he retired and he was also giving of himself on a part time basis to the Bimlik Kennell, in Ilion, during that time. At one time, he was a member of the Ilion Elks Lodge. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and just loved to have coffee with his family every day, especially at Otto’s. His love of Barb was evident and her “Robbie” cherished the way she cared for him for over 23 years. Survivors include his fiancée, love and best friend, Barb Weber; his daughter, Alexandra Rando (Blake Arcuri), of Ilion; his grandchildren, Liam and Nora; his siblings, Maryann Rando, of Herkimer, Ken Rando and his wife, Gina, of Remsen, Jim Rando and his wife, Lorie, of Mohawk, Steve Rando and Bonnie Shaw, of Herkimer and George Rando and Steve Nickles, of Pennsylvania; along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts, uncles, especially an uncle, who was more like a dad, Tony Casale and his wife, Joyce, and cousins and friends, including John Rathbun. He is also survived by his in-laws, Elizabeth ‘Cissy’ Rando, Georgia Rando, Joe Sudakow, Lawrence Mason, Wesley Mason and his wife, Nadine and Luann and Dennis Mowers. He was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Frances Rando; brothers, Michael Rando and Kirk Rando; a sister, Linda Sudakow and a special brother-in-law, Thomas Mason. A Catholic Funeral Service will take place on Monday, October 17, 2022, at 7:00 p.m., at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 North Washington Street, Herkimer, NY, 315-866-1011.
