Obituary of Valerie A. Tooley

LITTLE FALLS - Valerie A. Tooley, 94, of Monroe St., Little Falls, New York, passed away peacefully, on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at Wilson Memorial Hospital, in Johnson City, NY, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 25, 1927, in Little Falls, the daughter of the late Nello and Cesira “Jennie” (Fenni) Lorenzoni. She graduated from Little Falls schools and was a lifelong resident of Little Falls. Her marriage to Bartholomew Tooley took place on May 19, 1950, in St. Joseph’s Church. They shared 30 blessed years until his death in 1980. She was employed for many years with the Herkimer County Trust Company. She was a communicant of Holy Family Parish, where she was a member of the Rosary Society. She also was a member of the Beautification Committee and was a poll inspector at election time. Faith and family were the most important things in her life. She was ahead of her time being a working mother while raising a family. Upon her retirement, she devoted herself fully to her family, doing whatever was needed. In the true Italian spirit, her passion was sharing her cooking and baking talents. The time spent in the kitchen with her grandchildren was precious to her. The tradition of making homemade raviolis lives on because of her desire to teach her children and grandchildren tradition. She was most happy attending the many sporting events, concerts and activities of her grandchildren throughout the years. This brought her an immense sense of pride, seeing them happy. The addition of great-grandchildren gave her renewed joy, seeing the family continue to grow. She was a devout catholic with a special affinity for the Holy Mother, praying the rosary every day. She is survived by her sons, Jon, of Binghamton, Scott (Diane) and Bart (Monica), of Little Falls; her brother, John Lorenzoni; her beloved grandchildren, Danielle (Jon) Muratore, Lauren (Sachin) Chadha, Olivia, Leah (Justin) Graepel, Miller (Rachel), Parker, and Makena; her great- grandchildren, Nora, Arlo and Stella Valerie; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Bart; her brothers, Joseph (Pat), Albert, Emilio “Fonzie”, and Fred, Rudolph “Rudy”; and sisters, Jane, Angelina and Valida (infant). Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at 10:30 a.m., at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 West Monroe Street, in Little Falls and at 11:00 a.m., at Holy Family Parish Church, located at 763 E. Main Street / corner of John St. Little Falls, NY, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Brian Slezak, Pastor. There are calling hours on Monday, Oct. 10th from 6-8 p.m., at the funeral home. Friends and relatives are invited to attend the calling hours and Funeral Services. Interment will follow the Mass, on Tuesday, in St. Mary's Cemetery, Town of Herkimer. It is the wish of the family that donations in loving memory of Valerie be considered to the Little Falls Food Pantry, 45 Furnace Street, Little Falls, New York, 13365. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home for this purpose and this is encouraged over floral offerings. Arrangements have been coordinated with longtime family friends, Funeral Directors, Harry J. Enea, Jr., Kevin E. Enea and Martin L. Ciaccia, at the Enea Family Funeral Home, Little Falls (315) 823-2424.
