Obituary of Frank D. "Chip" Williams, lll

MOHAWK – Mr. Frank D. “Chip” Williams, III, age 66, a lifelong resident of Mohawk, New York, passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2022, in Boston, MA, with his devoted family always at his side. He was born January 20, 1956, in Ilion, New York, the son of the late Frank D. and Susan (Thomas) Williams, Jr. Raised and educated in Mohawk, he graduated from Mohawk Central School, Class of 1974, where Chip excelled in football. In 1979, he graduated from SUNY Oneonta, recipient of a bachelor’s degree. On August 4, 1979, he was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Denise Comstock, a loving companionship together for fifty years, 43 married and 7 years before. Chip maintained a successful working career starting at MDS and then PAR Tech. Corp., a computer programmer retiring in 2017. Chip dedicated himself to the community, serving as Mohawk Community Club Treasurer, having coached Mohawk Little League for many years, coach of Mohawk Youth Basketball boy’s and girl’s teams, President of the Mohawk Football Boosters and a member of the Blessed Sacrament Church. Personally, Chip was always there for his family. His love of watching his children and eventually his grandchildren excel in sports was his passion. Then, having his family over to the house or to ‘Camp Leslie’ on Canadarago Lake was genuinely the best of times. His faithful companions, Trey, Jax and Bo have predeceased him and he was always out walking them and doing yard work and working around the house. Chip was a loyal fan of the Buffalo Bills and the New York Mets from the very beginning. He is survived by his beloved family: his wife, Denise; his children, Kyle and Sara Williams (Manlius), Kasey and Brittany Williams (Mohawk) and Kady and Ben Conklin (Manlius); his grandchildren, the joy of his life, Ella, Eva, Lucy and Jack Williams and Charlie and Maggie Conklin; his beloved aunt, Rosemary Brown; his sister, Cathy Williams; his brother-in-law, Paul Kelly; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sondra and Bill Roemer; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Chip was predeceased by his parents; his sister, Melissa Kelly; his uncles, Bob Brown and Bob Williams; his cousin, Jeff Brown; Denise’s parents, Charles and Helen Comstock; and his previously mentioned, canine companions. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2022, at 11:00 a.m., at the Blessed Sacrament Church, Mohawk, New York, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Tom Babiuch, Pastor, assisted by Sr. Mary Jo Tallman. Interment at Mohawk Cemetery will take place at a time convenient to the family. Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours at the Enea & Ciaccia Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, Ilion, New York, on Friday, September 30, from 4 until 7 p.m. and then invited to attend the following day Funeral Mass. Chip’s son, Kyle, is a member of Heart Brothers Foundation, an organization that is near and dear to the family’s’ hearts, Chips as well. It is the wish of the family that contributions in loving memory of Chip, in lieu of floral offerings, be considered to this wonderful charitable organization. Please do so by visiting www.heartbrothers.org/donate , mailing to 225 Cedar Hill Street, Marlborough, MA 01752, or leaving the donation at the special memorial desk during calling hours at the funeral home, whereas envelopes will also be available. The family is comforted by all the acts of kindness and sympathy that have and are currently being extended during this very difficult time. All arrangements have been carefully planned with family friends, Enea, Ciaccia and Applegate, Funeral Directors (315) 894-8000. An online memorial tribute has been established at www.eneafamily.com on the Internet and this shall appear in the Friday, September 30, 2022 edition of the Herkimer Times Telegram newspaper as well.
