Obituary of Francis Pat Young

Francis “Pat” Young, age 68, a lifelong Mohawk Valley resident, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday morning, September 17, 2022, in the privacy and comfort of his home. Born in Herkimer on August 16, 1954, Francis was the son of the late Francis L. and Daisy M. (Larkin) Young. He was raised in Herkimer and attended local schools. Pat was a man who was not afraid of hard work and throughout the years he worked as a self-employed contractor. He was a handyman and a true jack of all trades. Nothing gave Pat greater happiness than being outdoors surrounded by the beauty and tranquility of nature. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, archery and guns and his home and his property were truly his safe haven and sanctuary. He was also a diehard Pittsburgh Steelers football fan. Pat is survived by his son, PJ Young and his wife, Amanda, of Mohawk; his daughter, Amanda Arndt and her husband, Joe of Mohawk; and his grandchildren, Austin Young, Paige Young, Emma Young, Lily Young, Mitchell Arndt and Justin Arndt. He also leaves many siblings, nieces, nephews and friends, with special mention of his lifelong friend, Roy White, Sr. of Mohawk. Pat was predeceased by Richard Ryan Brewer, Jr. whom he loved like a grandson, on February 13, 2020. Friends and relatives are invited to attend an outdoor gathering and Celebration of Pat’s Life at his residence, 135 Rock Hill Road, Mohawk, NY 13407, on Saturday, September 24, 2022 from 12NOON to 4:00PM.
