Obituary of Thomas DiBrango

Thomas DiBrango, age 63, a lifelong Mohawk Valley resident, passed away peacefully on Tuesday evening, August 30, 2022, at the Foltsbrook Center in Herkimer. His loving family was by his side during his last moments. Born on February 17, 1959 in Utica, Thomas was the son of the late Anthony “Tony” and Judy Mae (Foley) DiBrango. He also knew the love and guidance of his stepmother, Hope Blencowe. Tom was raised and educated in Utica, graduating from Proctor High School and continuing his education in electrical engineering at MVCC. At one time, Thomas was married to Julie Ann Cox, a seventeen year relationship from which came their three adored children. Julie was truly the love of Tom’s life and they shared a close bond and friendship for the remainder of his days. Tom was a hardworking man who held positions with various companies over the years, including Chicago Market, Hamilton Digital, Cloverleaf and, most recently, with Big Apple Music in New Hartford. His love for music was evident through his many talents and he was a gifted pianist and excellent drummer and throughout the years, earned the nickname “DJ Tommy Dee.” His many hobbies included fixing electronics, cooking delicious Italian recipes and in his younger years, bodybuilding. He was a very comical man who loved telling jokes and was especially devoted to the well-being of his children and grandchildren. Tom was a very strong man that held on through the many obstacles that he faced in life. Time and time again he showed everyone that he could persevere through anything. His courage and strength was admired and respected by his family and friends alike. He will always be remembered for his forgiving heart and his abundance of love. Anyone who was a close friend of Tom’s knew he would give his shirt off his back and his last cent if someone needed it. When it came to his children, they were his whole world. The twins and little Tommy made his life a whole lot brighter and their father’s legacy will forever live on in them. Tom is survived by his son, Thomas DiBrango; his daughters and son-in-law, Sarah-Ann DiBrango and Susan DiBrango and Ko Htet; his stepson, Jeremy Fitch; his nine grandchildren, Brayden, Korbin, Sierra, Stella, Quincy, Gia, Amina, Laila and Jenna; the mother of his children, Julie Cox; his step-mother, Hope Blencowe; and his mother-in-law, Evelyn Fitch.
