Obituary of Mary Ann Barretta

Mrs. Mary Ann Barretta, age 71, a lifelong Frankfort resident, passed away peacefully on Tuesday afternoon, June 28, 2022, at the Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown. Her passing occurred with the love and support of her devoted family at her bedside. Born on February 13, 1951, Mary Ann was the daughter of the late John and Barbara (Cooper) Puleo. She was raised and educated locally and was a graduate from Frankfort High School. On September 26, 1970, Mary Ann was wed to Anthony J. “Butch” Barretta at St. Mary’s Church in Frankfort. Together they spent forty-four years in a blessed marriage until Butch’s passing on September 21, 2014. Mary Ann worked as an administrative assistant for various places throughout the years, including Huyck Van Lines. Her primary focus, however, was always on the well being of her husband, children and grandchildren. Later in life, she overcame the obstacles of two major illnesses, in order to spend as much time as possible with the ones she loved. In her spare time, Mary Ann enjoyed reading and held a special appreciation for history. She was a collector of many things and her home was filled with beautiful trinkets and memorabilia. She volunteered her time with the Herkimer County Fair where she enjoyed her time in the antiques department. She was also an avid fan of the New York Yankees and a parishioner of Our Lady Queen of Apostles in Frankfort. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Tracie and Rick Pasquale of Hardy, Virginia; her son, Anthony Barretta, Jr. of Frankfort; her beloved granddaughters, Kira Pasquale and Sadie Pasquale; her brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Dana Puleo of Tennessee; along with numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws and cousins. She also leaves her neighbors and special friends, Fran Grates, Barbara Waldo and Nick Pianella. Mary Ann’s family is forever grateful to Dr. Hsieh, the nursing staff and the ICU team at Bassett Medical Center for the compassion, care and support shown to them throughout her last days. Friends and relatives are invited to attend Mary Ann's committal service at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Frankfort on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at 10:30AM, where her earthly remains will be laid to rest beside her husband. The Barretta family has entrusted the care of their beloved mother to Funeral Directors Harry and Kevin Enea and Martin L. Ciaccia. Online notes of sympathy may be left at www.eneafamily.com.
