Obituary of Annabelle Ball

ILION - Mrs. Annabelle (Knewasser) Ball, “Iyi”, age 96, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 29,2022, at Alpine Rehab & Nursing with family at her side. Annabelle was born in Ilion, on November 29, 1925, to the late Carl and Ruth (Eldred) Knewasser. She was a 1944 graduate of Ilion High School. Ann married the late Leslie Ball, on October 20,1944 and remained his devoted wife until his passing in 1976. Throughout her adult life, she was a wife and mother, an exceptional grandmother and great-grandmother, the world’s best and only Iyi, and an active member of the congregation, board, ladie’s auxiliary and Sunday School Administrator of the People’s Undenominational Church of Cedarville. She held skilled positions at Remington Rand and GE before attending college in 1977. She later worked at Faxton Hospital as a Supervisor in Central Supply until her retirement. Annabelle enjoyed music, played in a Bell Choir and had a green thumb most couldn’t help but envy. She was a loving caretaker for many throughout her life and exhibited compassion for all. She had unwavering faith and devotion to God and undying love and commitment to family. Ann/Iyi was strong, smart, independent, giving and exceptionally witty. At the age of 90 she could still outshoot the boys (with a rubber band gun). She was an incredibly talented arm-chair football coach and a loyal Yankees fan. The 1990-94 Mt. Markham Girl’s Soccer team may remember her as a staunch supporter who brought homemade cookies - win or lose. Besides her parents, Annabelle was predeceased by her husband, Leslie and her 3 brothers, Clifton “Chick” Knewasser, David Knewasser and Albert Knewasser. Ann is survived by her 3 children (who she’s very proud of), Cathy (Paul) Ferguson, of Cedarville, David (Cynthia) Ball, of West Winfield and Jared (Angelene) Ball, of Canajoharie; her grandchildren, Beth Schloicka, Roseann (Michael) Jaquay, Joshua Ball, Amber (Brian Hammes) Ball and Hilary (Derrick) Snell; and great-grandchildren, Connor Schloicka, Delaney and Gavin Beardsley, Colton Jaquay, and Milo and Isla Snell. She will be loved and missed for eternity. The family would like to thank the staff at Alpine Rehab & Nursing for their care of our loved one for the past 9 months. She was happy with you and that means SO much. Family and friends are invited to join us at calling hours, at the Enea & Ciaccia Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, Ilion, New York (Town of Frankfort), on Thursday, May 5, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Then, a Funeral Service will take place at the funeral home, at 1:00 p.m., on Thursday afternoon with Reverend David Schlaegel, officiating.
