Obituary of Lucy Marollo

HERKIMER – Mrs. Lucy Marollo, 94, a lifelong Herkimer resident, whose family lived on Dewey Avenue for many years, passed away on Sunday evening, April 24, 2022, at Little Falls Hospital. She was born on September 27,1927, in Herkimer, daughter of the late Philip and Mary (Buttiglione) Tangorra and was educated in local schools. She was married to Dominick Marollo, on September 4, 1948, at St. Anthony’s Church, in Herkimer, where the couple faithfully attended. Dominick preceded Lucy in death, on January 20, 1998. Lucy was a waitress at Chet’s Luncheon, in Herkimer, for many years and most of all was a devoted matriarch to her family and all her children and grandchildren, who will dearly miss her. She is survived by her children, Donald Marollo and his wife, Jessica, of Herkimer, Daniel Marollo and his wife, Monique, of Penfield, NY and Donna Smith and her husband, George, of Waterford, NY; her grandchildren, Kyle Smith and his wife, Evelyn, Nina Marollo, Sam Marollo and his wife, Casey, Nicholas Marollo and Hannah Marollo; her great-grandchildren, Harrison Smith and Theo Smith; her siblings, Michael and Joan Tangorra, Bella Aiello, Palma and David Calenzo, Janet and Bill Palmieri and Kathleen and Frank Barrett; her in-laws, Harriett Tangorra, Anita Martin, Lizzy Tangorra and Paul Zito; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was given very special care through the years by a longtime family friend, Cathy Carpenter. She was predeceased by her sisters and brothers, Vita Palumbo, Frank Tangorra, Rosie Maida, Alex Tangorra, Philip Tangorra, Richard Tangorra, Cosimo Tangorra and Elaine Zito. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Heart Association, 125 Business Park Drive, Ste 106, Utica, NY 13502. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours, at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 North Washington Street, Herkimer, New York, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., on Sunday, May 1, 2022. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, May 2, 2022, at 9:30 a.m., at The Church of Sts. Anthony & Joseph, South Main St., Herkimer, NY, where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will be held at Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer, after the Mass.
