Obituary of Lena Patricia Terricola

ST. JOHNSVILLE - Mrs. Lena Patricia Terricola, 97, of 18 N. Division St., St. Johnsville, NY, passed away on April 22, 2022. She was born on April 21, 1925, in St. Johnsville, the daughter of the late Andrew and Giacomina (Baudone) Barca. Lena graduated from St. Johnsville High School, Class of 1942, serving as Class Treasurer. She participated on the 1942 Reunion Committee for many years. After graduation, she worked at the family owned Barca's Bakery and the Beech-Nut Packing Company, in Canajoharie, NY. She then decided to continue her education and graduated from Mildred Elley Business School, in Albany, NY and later worked as Executive Secretary at the Knolls Atomic Laboratory, Schnectady, NY. On April 17, 1955, she was united in marriage to Constantine J. (CJ) Terricola, at the former St. Patrick's Catholic Church, St. Johnsville, by Rev. Joseph Reger. CJ and Lena celebrated 55 years together. CJ passed away on February 6, 2010. Lena and CJ were co-proprietors of Terricola's Clothing Store until their retirement in 1984. She was a communicant of the former St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Altar Rosary Society, St. Johnsville Senior Citizens, Tuesday Card Club, St. Johnsville Bowling League, St. Johnsville Business Girls, the Palatine Society and the Red Hat Society. Lena also served on many community and church committees. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, Fort Plain, NY. Since her retirement, Lena has enjoyed spending winters in Florida and traveling with her husband throughout Europe, touring Great Britain, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, Italy and Sicily. They also traveled to Hawaii, Canada and the Caribbean. Lena was also a member of the Ninth Division Women's Auxiliary and traveled with her husband to many Association Reunions throughout major US cities and attended the 25th Ninth Division Reunion of the 84th Field Artillery visiting the route they fought for four years during World War II. Lena also enjoyed visiting her children and grandchildren in Texas, Florida and California. Lena was family oriented and proud of her Italian-Sicilian heritage. She enjoyed cooking and entertaining her family and friends with her expertise in Italian cooking, especially during the holidays. She lived a wonderful life surrounded by her family and close friends and will be remembered by her kind heart and beautiful smile and will be greatly missed by all who had the joy of knowing her. Lena is survived by her daughter, Constance Terricola, of St. Johnsville, NY; her son, Terence Terricola and his fiancée, Maria Valiente, of Lake Worth, Florida and his children, Heather and Aria, of Gainesville, Florida; niece, Andrea (Barca) Green and husband, Paul, of Little Falls, NY; nephew, Peter Barca and wife, Lynette, of Morristown, TN; great-nieces, Daniella Barca, of Clearwater, TX and Paulena Green, of Little Falls, NY; great-nephew, Troy Barca, retired US Navy, Norfolk, VA; nieces, Phyllis (Terricola) Johnson and husband, Donald, of Little Falls, NY and Linda Terricola, of Amsterdam, NY; great-niece, Wendy (Johnson) McGrath and husband, Jason; great- great nephew, Henry; along with many cousins, in the US and Italy. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Anna and Lucy Barca; her brothers, Peter, Louis and Joseph Barca; nephew, Andre Barca; brother-in-law, Philip Terricola; and sister-in-law, Josephine Terricola. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Mrs. Terricola's memory can be made to St. Johnsville Area Volunteer Ambulance Corp, PO Box 296, St. Johnsville, NY 13452 or Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 N. Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL 33607 or a charity of your choice. Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours, at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 9 Center St., St. Johnsville, NY, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., on Wednesday, April 27, 2022. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, April 28, 2022, at 10:15 a.m., at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 9 Center St., St. Johnsville, NY and at 11:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Hope Church, 115 Reid St., Fort Plain, NY, where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will be held at St. Johnsville Cemetery, after the Mass.
