Obituary of Charles Edward Thibault

Charles E. Thibault, 86, of Sarasota, Florida, died Wednesday, March 16, 2022, at The Glenridge on Palmer Ranch, in Sarasota, Florida. Charles was born January 27, 1936, in Clinton, NY, the son of Lucien and Adrienne Thibault. He attended Annunciation and Ilion Central Schools, graduating in 1953. He attended NYU at Albany, NY after graduation. He was a parishioner at the Church of the Annunciation, in Ilion, NY while there and a very active member at St. Thomas More, in Sarasota, until his passing. As a young man, Charles was very active in the Boy Scouts and became an Eagle Scout. He received the Order of the Arrow. He was a Bugler and staff member at Camp Russell, BSA. Later, Charles belonged to many civic and professional organizations throughout his life and served on many boards. On June 4, 1955, Charles was united in marriage to Joyce Hungerford, at the Church of the Annunciation, in Ilion, NY. They shared 56 years of loving marriage. Charles was employed with Valley Electric, in Mohawk, NY. In January of 1977, he started Utica Valley Electric Supply Company, in Yorkville, NY and was President of the company until retiring in 1998 to Sarasota, FL with his wife, Joyce. Charles was an avid golfer and spent a lot of his retired time on the golf course in the Mohawk Valley, at Cedar Lake Country Club and at TPC Prestancia, in Sarasota. He was a longtime member of both Cedar Lake and TPC Prestancia. He had many friends that he loved spending time with, either on the golf course, traveling, cruises or fun gatherings. But what he loved most was being with his children and grandchildren and spending time with his wife in their homes in Ilion, NY and Sarasota, FL. Charles lost his loving wife, Joyce, on July 4, 2011. On November 2, 2013, Charles married Nancy O. Joyce, of Lakewood Ranch, FL. They settled at the Glenridge on Palmer Ranch, in Sarasota FL and enjoyed six happy years there together until Nancy’s passing on July 2, 2019. Charles is survived by his beloved twin brother Larry and wife, Jeanne, of Roanoke, TX; his sister, Rosemarie Squire, of Herkimer, NY; three children, Larry (Terry) Thibault, of Clayville, NY, Paul (Christine) Thibault, of Ilion, NY and Kathy Buckley, also of Ilion; eight wonderful grandchildren, Donna (Nathan) Flesher, of Montara, CA, Matthew Thibault, of Frankfort, NY, Stacey (Steven) Brandes, of Gibsonton, FL, Ashley (Ken) Schorer, of Ilion, Charlie Buckley, of Ilion, Rene’ (Bogdan) Pyrda, of Marcy, NY, Cassandra Thibault and Nickee Thibault, of Ilion; eleven cherished great-grandchildren, Lila, Brooks, Addyson, Grayson, Leo, Kyra, Ellianna, Emilia, Zoey, Ewa and Dominic; and several treasured nieces and nephews. Charles is also survived by three stepchildren, Mike (Vicki) Joyce, Rick (Harmony) Joyce and Susan Joyce. He was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Charles Squire and son-in-law, Michael Buckley. Charles… father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle, was an exceptional man and a pillar of the family. The Thibault family would like to thank the wonderful nurses, CNA’s and staff, who gave so much of themselves for the love and care of Charles, at the Carroll Center at the Glenridge, the past few years. Funeral Services will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 7, 2022, at the Church of the Annunciation, West St., Ilion, where a Memorial Mass will be celebrated by Father Paul Catena, Pastor. Burial will be at Armory Hill Cemetery, Ilion. There are no calling hours.
