Obituary of Carmelo DiPrimo

MOHAWK – Carmelo DiPrimo, age 87, of Ward Rd., Mohawk, passed away peacefully, on Sunday, March 6, 2022, at home, with his family by his side. He was born on January 14, 1935, in Catania, Sicily, the son of Vincent and Maria (Nellini) DiPrimo and attended schools in Italy. On June 29, 1963, he was married to Jessie L. Phillips, at St. Joseph’s Church, Brooklyn, NY. She died on December 22, 2001. Carmelo was employed as a Forman, at the Daniel Green Slippers, Dolgeville, NY, for over 25 years. Mr. DiPrimo attended Blessed Sacrament Church, Mohawk. Surviving family members include his 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Vincent DiPrimo and his fiancée, Raquel Reyes, of Fresno, CA and Edward and Diana DiPrimo, of Little Falls; his daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Dominick Manno, of Victor, NY; 7 grandchildren, Stephen, Cynthia and Geordi DiPrimo, Angela and Dominick Manno and Alyssa and Jessaca DiPrimo; 5 great-grandchildren, Tayon Suell, Treyvon Suell, Tristan DiPrimo and Leilani and Greyson DiPrimo; 3 sisters, Marie D’Agostino, Giuseppina Vezzi and Providenza Giacalone; 1 brother, Nicola DiPrimo; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, George and Jeanette Phillips, of Petersburg, NY; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, Vincenzo and Maria DiPrimo; his wife, Jessie; and siblings, Giovanni DiPrimo, Carmelina Nicoletti, Rosaria DiPrimo and Vincent DiPrimo. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 9, 2022, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home’s larger facility, at 4309 Acme Rd. (old Main St.), between Ilion and Frankfort (315-895-7722). Funeral Services will follow, at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home, with Pastor Gary Wilcox, of the Emmanuel Bible Church, officiating. If you plan on attending visitation or services, please consider wearing a mask, to protect the family and others. Burial will be held later this spring, at the Mohawk Cemetery Annex, on Vickerman Hill, Mohawk, next to his wife, Jessie.
