Obituary of Justin B. Cavaretta

Justin Benjamin Cavaretta, age 39, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, February 20, 2022, after suffering a cardiac event at home. Born on January 9, 1983, Justin is the youngest son of Carol J. (Licari) Cavaretta and the late Leonard F. Cavaretta, Jr. His childhood years were spent in Frankfort where he enjoyed playing baseball, football and participating in the Choral program at Frankfort-Schuyler High School. He was a talented singer who participated in three high school plays, as well as the All-County, All-State and NYSSMA events. He graduated from FSCS with the Class of 2001, after which he attended SUNY Albany. For a time, Justin was employed with ACS Student Loan Servicing in downtown Utica, until their closing. Since July of 2016 he has been employed with Northern Safety and Industrial in Frankfort, currently holding the position of Cost Estimator. He established many lifelong friends amongst his co-workers and was well-known in the work place for his reliability and personable demeanor. His presence will be truly missed there. Justin was an outgoing, sociable and all-around friendly guy who got along with everyone whose path he came across. There wasn’t a mean bone in his body and his sarcastic sense of humor was well-known within his circle of friends and family. Growing up, Justin had a close-knit bond with his brothers and together, with their father, Lenny, they spent a lot of time hunting, fishing and becoming skilled in the sport of archery. He was a diehard Buffalo Bills fan and a proud member of the Bills Mafia, often attending games for his beloved team. He also had an extensive football memorabilia collection. After the passing of his father, Lenny, just one year ago, Justin took on the role of looking after his mother and the family homestead. They enjoyed meals out together, singing karaoke and of course, constantly teasing and laughing. Carol was very blessed to spend these last months of Justin’s life in such close presence to him. Justin also had a close bond with his nieces and nephews and they held a special place in his heart from the moment they were born. He took an active interest in their lives and accomplishments and was always there for them to lend an ear and give support or a word of wisdom; and he wasn’t afraid of giving them ‘tough love’ if that’s what they needed! Justin leaves behind his mother, Carol; his brothers, Leonard F. Cavaretta, III and fiancé, Krista Paulson, of Frankfort, and Jeremy Cavaretta and wife, Andrea, of Averill Park, NY; his nieces and nephews, Veronica Cavaretta and Michael Loomis, Victoria Cavaretta, Christopher Pritchard, Arianna Cavaretta and Gabriella Cavaretta; his aunts and uncles, Sandra and Kerry Klingmyer, Joanne and George Serus, Michael Bird, Benny Licari, Joe Licari and Sam Licari; along with a host of cousins. He also leaves his close friends, Joe Guidera, Mike Kupiec, Vic Tarris and Mike Minosh; as well as his godfather, David Calandra. He was predeceased by his father, Lenny, on February 25, 2021; by his aunt, Roselyn Bird; and by his grandparents, Ben and Gladys Licari and Leonard and Flora Cavaretta. A special thank you is extended to Town of Frankfort Police Chief Matt Palumbo and to MOVAC ambulance for their quick efforts on Sunday afternoon. The family also wishes to thank all of their family, friends and neighbors for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time. Friends and relatives are invited to attend visitation on Friday evening, February 25, 2022 from 4:00PM – 7:00PM at the Enea & Ciaccia Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, Town of Frankfort, Ilion, NY (315) 894-8000. Justin’s funeral service will commence on Saturday morning, February 26, 2022 at 9:30AM at the funeral home and at 10:30AM at Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church in Frankfort where his Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. Paul Catena, Pastor. The Cavaretta family has entrusted the care of their beloved son and brother to Martin L. Ciaccia and Harry and Kevin Enea, Funeral Directors.
