Obituary of Vincenzo (Vinny) Marchese

LITTLE FALLS - Vincenzo (Vinny) Marchese, 82, of Little Falls, went to be with the Lord, on Thursday, February 10, 2022, at Little Falls Hospital, with his loving family by his side. Vinny was born in San Guiseppe Jato, Italy, on June 3, 1939, a son of the late Salvatore and Croce (LaMilia) Marchese and was educated in Little Falls schools. He was proud to be an American but never forgot his Italian heritage. On July 3, 1965, he was united in marriage with Catherine (Nella) Stagliano, in Herkimer, New York, a union of 56 years filled with love and dedication. Vinny was the founder of Vinny’s Pizzeria in Herkimer. Prior to opening the family pizzeria, he was employed with Allegro Shoe Company for over 30 years. He was of the Catholic Faith. Vinny’s foremost priority was his role of a loving and supportive husband, father, grandfather and brother. His life was dedicated to his loved ones, especially his grandchildren and he was always there for them with his love and care. He had a passion for soccer and bocce and truly enjoyed watching all sports. Vinny also played a fundamental role in founding the youth soccer program in Little Falls. Vinny always found time for the business and his family. Vinny cherished his Saturday nights at the restaurant, enjoying dinner and sharing memories with his family and friends. He appreciated and respected all his employees and customers, treating everyone like family. On Mondays, his day of rest, it was of utmost importance for him to make pizza for the children at St. Francis de Sales School, because nothing was more important to Vinny than bringing joy with his pizza. Survivors include his beloved wife, Nella; two adored children, Salvatore Marchese and wife, Wendy and Mariella Failing and husband, Tim; four cherished grandchildren, Miranda Marchese, Vincent Marchese, Timmy Failing and Nicole Failing; two wonderful brothers, Thomas Marchese and wife, Ina and Anthony Marchese and wife, Kathleen; a devoted sister, Maria Sciortino and husband, John; brother-in-law, Mario Stagliano and wife, Sandra; and three sisters-in-law, Maria Santoro, Julia Manno and Rita Marchese. He is also survived by aunts and uncles in Italy; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his sister, Giovanna Lamanna and husband, Charlie; brother, Peter Marchese; and two brothers-in-law, Joseph Manno and Antonio Santoro. Relatives and friends may pay their respects at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 West Monroe Street, Little Falls, on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Vinny’s funeral will commence at 11:30 a.m., on Tuesday, February 15th from the chapel of the funeral home where prayer will be offered and at 12 NOON from Holy Family Parish Church, corner of East Main & John Sts., Little Falls, where his Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Brian Slezak, Pastor. Entombment in Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer, will be this spring. The Marchese Family would like to offer their gratitude to everyone for all the kind acts of sympathy extended during this difficult time. We would like to mention our loyal customers and employees who have consistently been there for us throughout 30 plus years.
