Obituary of Ricky O. Prior

MOHAWK – Mr. Ricky O’Dell Prior, age 66, currently of Mohawk and formerly of the Watertown area, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, January 5, 2022. His passing occurred in the privacy and comfort of his home with his beloved family at his side. Born on March 2, 1955, in Watertown, NY, Ricky was the son of the late Noah and Shirley (Stahl) Prior. He was raised in Jefferson County and was a graduate of Indian River Central Schools. In 1980, Ricky enlisted with the United States Army and proudly served his country until receiving his honorable discharge in 1986. In 1989, Ricky was wed to the former Anne Marie Mentry, and together they shared in a blessed union of over thirty-two years. Ricky was employed with UPS in Syracuse, NY where he retired as a Supervisor. He made many lasting friendships with his co-workers and they kept in touch even during his retirement years. He was a member of the St. Francis di Paola Society in Frankfort. Ricky is survived by his beloved wife, Anne Marie; by his daughter, Erin Moon and husband, Jason; his stepchildren, James Coolidge, Christopher Coolidge and wife, Lisa, and Amy Ulinski and husband, Mark; and numerous grandchildren. He also leaves his brothers and sisters-in-law, Noah and Terry Prior, Bruce and Sue Prior and Todd and Deborah Prior; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Rebecca and Randy Bushaw and Natalie and Robert Powell; along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his beloved son, Micah Prior; and by his brother, Jeffrey Prior. In keeping with Ricky’s wishes, his earthly remains will be cremated and laid to rest in Dexter Cemetery, Dexter, NY at the convenience of his family.
