Obituary of Agatha Pietropaoli

LITTLE FALLS - Mrs. Agatha Pietropaoli, age 96, of Flint Ave., Little Falls, New York, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday afternoon, November 13, 2021, at Foltsbrook Center, in Herkimer, New York, following a brief illness. At the time of her passing she had the love of her beloved family, namely, her daughter Marie always at her side. She was born in Little Falls, New York, on September 15, 1925, daughter of the late James and Maria (Volpe) Verri and attended Little Falls School. Agatha had worked at Allegro Shoe, in Little Falls, in the years prior to being married and having children. She was raised in Little Falls and lived her entire life there. On November 17, 1951, she was united in marriage with Carlo “Charles” Pietropaoli, in St. Joseph’s Church, Little Falls and the couple had recently celebrated 56 wonderful years of marriage, prior to his passing away, on July 7, 2008. The family attended Holy Family Parish in Little Falls for many years. Agatha was the most loving and care giving mother we could ever ask for. Family was an important factor in her life and she was always attentive to the needs of her loved ones and supportive to them in every way. Regarding her personality, she was an admirable woman and possessed an unselfish nature. She was an absolute sensational Italian cook and always enjoyed her many relatives and friends who she was admirably kind to all the time. Her motto was: “You can never have too much food!” Agatha would sew nice clothes which was very helpful. In her earlier years, Aggie was an advanced swimmer and had studied and embraced life-saving measures, even going as far as putting them to use. She liked to play basketball as well. She loved watching New York Yankee games with her daughter. Her gentle and loving manner will be with us forever. Survivors include her loving and devoted family: her beloved daughter, Marie Pietropaoli, of Little Falls; a sister, Joan Lasher, of Dolgeville; and many cherished nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, many cousins, special friends and in-laws. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie; sister, Jean Lonis and her husband, David; her brothers, Fiorello Verri, who passed away serving our country during World War II, Gino Verri and Anthony “Tony” Verri; and in-laws, Olga Caliguire and her husband, Peter, Lydia Masscaro, Victor Pietropaoli and Ida and John Bell; and she was also predeceased by Lucy Verri. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 19, 2021, at 10:30 AM, at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 West Monroe Street, in Little Falls, New York and at 11:00 AM at Holy Family Parish Church, corner of East Main and John Streets, in Little Falls, where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Father Brian Slezak, Pastor, officiating. Interment will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Town of Herkimer. Calling hours, the evening prior to the funeral service at the original funeral home are on Thursday, November 18th from 4PM until 7PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours and all funeral services the next day. It is the wish of the family that memorial contributions in memory of Agatha be considered to Holy Family Parish, 763 East Main Street, in Little Falls, New York 13365 and envelopes will be available at the Enea Family Funeral Home for this purpose. Agatha received excellent care, particularly from her devoted daughter Marie who was always at her side. She received wonderful loving care from the entire staff at Foltsbrook Center, Little Falls Hospital, Tri-County Medical in Little Falls, Dr. Liu and Dr. Buch, who even made house calls. The family is very appreciative of their compassionate care and concern. All funeral arrangements for Agatha have been entrusted to the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 West Monroe St., Little Falls, NY, Funeral Directors, Harry J. Enea, Jr., Kevin E. Enea and Martin L. Ciaccia (315-823-2424). Online condolences may be left at www.eneafamily.com.
