Obituary of Edna E. Tarbox

JORDANVILLE - Edna E. (Rogers) Tarbox, age 89, fell asleep in death on Saturday evening, October 23, 2021, at the Abraham House, in Utica. She was born on November 9, 1931 in Burlington, NY to the late William and Edna (Ward) Rogers. On June 5, 1948, she married Homer M. Tarbox. They shared sixty-eight years of marriage until his death on September 29, 2016. Edna was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on March 23, 1968, and served Jehovah faithfully for the last fifty-three years. She was always willing to share the good news that she had learned from the Bible with all who would listen. Along with being devoted to her God she was also devoted to her ever increasing family. She and Homer worked together on their farm while raising their five children, first in Cedarville, NY before moving to Fort Plain in 1959. Taking in foster children, they raised two more girls as their own. Along with their children, they also raised a beloved granddaughter. Edna was a hard worker, not only on the farm, but in taking care of her home and family. This family included many nieces, nephews and grandchildren who came and went from year to year. She was known for her love and for always having a big meal on the table; feeding, caring for and showing love to all who came into her home. She will be missed dearly by all who knew her. Edna is survived by her children, David Tarbox of Oppenheim, Paul Tarbox of Little Falls, Cindy and Ron Chrisman of Little Falls, Russell and Susan Tarbox of Fort Plain, Deborah and Daniel Taylor of Little Falls, Cheryl and David Culver of Little Falls and Sharon Yager of Mayfield; her sister, Mildred Dixson; 16 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Homer, and her grandson, Michael P. Tarbox; along with four brothers, four sisters, five stepbrothers and one stepsister. Edna’s family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation for the loving care and compassion shown to her during her stay at the Brookdale Memory Care in Clinton, NY as well as the Abraham Houses in Rome, NY and Utica, NY.
